"Pro Life" activist is not really pro-life, just anti-abortion

‘Pro-life’ broadcaster shrugs off fetus-devastating Flint water crisis and Zika epidemic as made-up

A “pro-life” broadcaster dismissed concerns about the Flint water crisis and the Zika virus as liberal conspiracy theories that weren’t worthy of her concern.

Sandy Rios, the American Family Association’s director of governmental affairs and the host of a daily syndicated radio program, said neither health crisis posed as much threat as Islamic State militants or Latino immigrants, reported Right Wing Watch.

A caller asked Rios, who campaigns against both abortion and contraception, why she and other conservatives had been largely silent about the Flint water crisis, which was caused in no small part by directives imposed on city officials by the state’s Republican administration.

Rios blamed the city’s Democratic city officials, who were largely powerless to refuse state orders, and said she didn’t care about the issue as much as she feared ISIS and “our out-of-control borders.”

“The whole issue in Michigan — the left loves to, they’re now creating this, I’m sorry, I’m going to really go out on a limb here, this Zika virus which I haven’t talked about,” Rios said. “They love to come up with tragedies and they love to blame and they love to scare people. I think this issue in Michigan is a serious one, but I don’t think it’s the big issue that these other issues are.”

The Zika epidemic in Brazil has been blamed for an increase in microcephaly — a congenital condition that causes abnormally small heads and incomplete brain development — and other fetal medical conditions.

Legal scholars and at least one judge say the harm is so profound that they’re prepared to challenge Brazil’s restrictive abortion laws — which ban the procedure unless the mother’s life is endangered or the pregnancy is the result of rape.

Medical experts say all children under age 6 in Flint — that’s more than 8,600 kids, based on U.S. Census data — were likely exposed to lead in their drinking water.

There is no safe level of lead in the human body, but the toxic metal’s effects are most severe in the developing brains and nervous systems of young children and fetuses.

The caller accused Rios of “devaluing black life” in dismissing concerns about Flint’s drinking water — but the broadcaster insisted she had no idea whether the city’s residents were mostly black or white.

Rios, who has blamed abortion on “promiscuous white men” and “promiscuous black ones like our president,” frequently warns that Central American migrants are spreading measles and other diseases when they arrive in the U.S.

She also said women who have had abortions become “hard as nails” and “mean and evil and angry.”

Rios was won a variety of awards for her anti-choice and anti-LGBT activism — including the 2005 Henry Hyde Leadership Award, a Pro-Life Action League’s Protector Award, the conservative Eagle Forum’s Excellence Award and Family PAC’s 1999 Conservative of the Year.

She's not pro-life. She's anti-choice, anti-abortion. She doesn't care if the feotus is harmed by a virus that infected the mother, she doesn't care if the brain of the feotus or the chil is permanently damaged by toxic water.

These people call themselves "pro-life" but they only care about the lives of unborn foetuses, they do not care about the health of theses foetuses and they certainly don't care about the lives of the kids once they are born...

Because one guy said this, they are all like that?

The Flint crisis is real.

The Zika virus was created. The same spot where the GM mosquitoes were released, is where the virus started.
Bill Gates in involved.

Same area where GM mosquitoes were released in 2015 is the epicenter for the Zika outbreak

Why, why, why, why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn't wanna fuck in the first place? Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked. Conservatives don't give a shit about you until you reach military age. Then they think you're just fine. Just what they've been looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. Pro-life... pro-life... These people aren't pro-life, they're killing doctors! What kind of pro-life is that? What, they'll do anything they can to save a fetus but if it grows up to be a doctor they just might have to kill it? They're not pro-life. You know what they are? They're anti-woman. Simple as it gets, anti-woman. They don't like them. They don't like women. They believe a woman's primary role is to function as a brood mare for the state. - George Carlin

Interesting. I didn't realize the Sierra Club was a pro-life organization.

At some point it's time to say "FUCK YOU, MOSQUITOS," and bring back DDT.

Exactly...most of the people in the "pro- life" camp consist of people who still believe that the earth is only 4 to 5 thousand years old, even though science has proven it to be more like 4.5 billion years old. These deeply faithful individuals don't take the time to actually think about the people and ideas they have been indoctrinated to hate, from an objective point of view.
Being a devout Atheist for about 20 years, I have seen the devastation and harm that religion and faith leave in their wake. If a doctor told on of these pro-lifers that there is a 99.999% their unborn child will be born highly malformed and brain dead, and may live a painful 3-4 days with the aid of machines, they would choose to put a child through all of that pain rather than abort the fetus while it is still just a congregation of cells. Their fear of god and hell prevents any rational thought and logic in their thinking.
Although I lean towards the pro-choice viewpoint, I don't think that planned parenthood be an alternative to safe sex or a way to fix an "oops" situation. Adoption is sometimes an available option that should be considered.
We, as a civilization, need to realize that there is always a grey area. The world is not black and white, good and evil, right and wrong. We have advanced exponentially in science and medicine, industry and technology in the past 200-300 years. Despite our continuing evolution, most of the world's population continue to believe in the writings of ancient civilizations attempting to make sense of a world they have little understanding of. Eventually, they became smart enough to realize that religion can be used to keep the people in check under the thumb of the rulers and church officials. Religion is also a great way to generate a steady flow of unimaginable wealth.
Well, after that lengthy rant, I realize I didn't comment on the Zika epidemic or the Flint water crisis, but I'll get to those after a little more research on the topics.

Really? No.

science has proven it to be more like 4.5 billion years old.

When did they prove this?

No one has proven the age of the earth.

Just joined and started posting in this section. Who's sockpuppet is this?

"Devout atheist." Don't evangelize here.

Can you please explain how one can be a devout non-believer? Atheist do not evangelize, we ask for proof of existence of a being that has not apparently seen fit to show themselves in thousands of years. Those appearances also happen to non-historical figures that no one can verify.

I have no problem with people having sincerely held religious principles. As long as they do not shove these principales down everyone's throats.
You're against abortion ? Fine, don't have one. But do not make it impossible for others to have one.
