Pres. Gerald Ford dead at 93

It's good to be the king...
Some folks will remember him as accident-prone; others - the pardoning of Richard Nixon. Others still will remember the assassination attempts.

Me? I think he restored respect to the title "President of the USA".

RIP Gerald Ford. :(

I'll say one thing about Ford:

"The state of the Union is not good." Few other Presidents have ever had the guts to say that!

Ford always came across as someone who wasn't terribly stuck up on himself, dig? Mild mannered personality and all that.

Ford chose to go to Yale over the NFL - he was a star athlete in school (how he ever got the clumsy moniker will always befuddle me).

cheers,

(how he ever got the clumsy moniker will always befuddle me).

After he became president there was a stretch when he had several unfortunate mishaps where he was filmed/photographed tripping and falling down. One example I remember was when he was descending the staircase from Air Force One. Also he had the misfortune of hitting people (usually in the head) in the gallery when he was playing golf. That happened 2 or 3 times. Of course this was exaggerated by Chevy Chase on Saturday Night Live and that gives many people the impression that he was very clumsy.

Gerald Ford was the president that got Canada into the G8. There was only the U.S., Germany & Japan that wanted to include us at the time.
In my own way I thanked him today. I went to the U.S. Embassy and signed one of the books they've got in every embassy to pay your respects.

In other news, I've banged at least one girl from every G8 country.
I feel like an ambassador almost!

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
He was never elected as Pres or V Pres. He was picked by Nixon because the elected V.P., Agnew, resigned for taking brides in his White House office.

I assume it's a typo since I seem to recall Agnew resigning after pleading no lo contendre to money laundering and tax evasion charges (aka bribes) but hey he may well have been taking brides in his office as well.

All you say is true. I remember a news story saying that one of the bribes was received by Agnew in his White House office. A Maryland contractor was involved. Agnew did other things as well, but the image of him in his White House office has stuck with me. But that was 35 years ago, and it could be false memory, but I’m pretty sure of it. I also remember somebody else getting a blow job in his White House office. I’m pretty sure of that as well.

Along with Ronald Reagan, I feel that Gerald Ford was one of the most committed, idealistic, and upstanding men that the White House has seen in the past century. Given, they didn't have the brash fiery nature and winds of change at their back like Kennedy, nor did they have the longevity and strength of message of like Roosevelt; they both ascended to the office because they were the right men for the right job at the right time. When our nation needed healing, they were there to offer comfort and a solution. When our nation needed to lead, they were there to lead with honor, dignity, and humility. When our nation felt purposeless and divided, they offered unity and the hope of a better tomorrow. Regardless of politics, it is very sad to see men like this pass.

Thank you for everything, Mr. President.

Whoever had Saddam in the pool, you can now collect your money. The celebrity death triangle gods have been appeased! :angels:

Agreed. I know some are saying this Charlie Drake, but, I can only see him as a minor sub in while awaiting to see if a third would come. Albeit Saddams death wasn't unknown, still...

But, RIP to Ford, Brown and Drake. As for Mr. Saddam, may your God have mercy on your soul.
