Blah, hack film maker Lucio Fulcio's absolute WORST piece of shit (and I feel he has many; even his most praised works, such as Zombi aka: Zombi 2and The Beyond I feel are grossly overrated I'm sorry to say). Plus even as a lover of the sub-genre it is an absolute terribly dubbed and terrible scripted and acted Giallo-style Slasher movie. Beyond Misogynist bullshit indeed. Accordingly to many sources for us genre fanatics, it was said that right before he co-write it and production started, Fulci was dumped by his first or second German wife, and as a result the inner Pig truely came out of him at that point (truely).
An absolute file film. I love the horror genre and old school Slasher films, but I don't like total trash like that (also Murder-Set-Pieces) with no sense of mystery or old school fun and the like. A casual sense of Sleaze such as Friday the 13th Part V (1985) is alright on occasion twice a year or so, but The New York Ripper ultimately crosses the line a bt too far. I even own I Spit on Your Grave with the Joe Bob Briggs commentary track that is really insightful and amusing, and I never liked New York Ripper. And it just came out on a gorgeous Blu-Ray. Who in the hell wanted that movie in high-definition? What a waste of awesome modern technology in releasing such a sad, piss-poor and ice-cold Misogynist film.
