Missionary isn't to procreate. SEX is to procreate. The only people who think of missionary in those terms are either really stupid, or they think missionary is boring and because they want sex to be more fun (i.e. they might be lazy and want the girl to do all the work, and they think of sex as something of a performance rather than recognizing it for the amazing, pleasurable act that it is).
My favorite position is missionary. I'm a solo girl, so that only applies to my personal sex life, although if I was still doing b/g porn as I did years ago, it would still be missionary.

If it's on a film set, they aren't picking the position, they are doing what was scripted. You should ask the writer or producer this question.
