Poison Ivy Origins (comics and cosplay)

Hey so I am working on a new project, testing out some methods of shooting before I go full force but I am torn over which origin story to run with for Poison Ivy.

Should I go with the Silver Age Origins or Modern Origins??

I question this as I never read her role in birds of prey and I am not sure if I go with the silver age origins, will I possibly run into some necessary creative changes to adapt? Which origins story sounds hotter to you ?? I prefer the silver age origins myself.

I don't necessarily know what the project is that you're doing but you could always combine the origins. Keeping the simple nature of the Silver Age origin and adding it to the Modern Age, but removing the college and relationship aspects it. Keeping the insanity, transformation and the history that came after the Modern Age origin.

I have no clue about the story, but I like curves popping out from revealing clothing and sexy ladies...

Can anyone really even get any nerdier than that? Aren't those kind of comics like some old aged porn magazines?

Oh how neat. I never read much about Poison Ivy myself, but I have always been an X-Men fan.

Put me down for the Modern Age. I like the thought of this outfit ending up as reality:

Here is Ivy's origins. She is a very sexy woman, Batman is just surrounded by sexy women.

A better way to determine an origin study for Poison Ivy would be to take the post Crisis on Infinite Earths series that was published from 1985 to 1986. Also a good comic to look at is Secret Origin of Green Lantern which also included a origin story on Poison Ivy.

This particular story has her growing in a wealthy family but her parents are emotionally distant. In which she turns to science and begins studying advance botanical biochemistry. She is then seduced by her professor who in return injects her with poisons and toxins which cause her transformation. She then is in the hospital for 6 months while her professor Dr. Jason Woodrow flees. Her boyfriend then dies in a mysterious car accident as he was infected with a huge fungal overgrowth. She leaves Seattle and heads for Gotham. She begins her criminal life here but is thwarted and put in Arkham Asylum by Batman, this in return causes her to have an obsession with Batman. Its quite a long story and includes a lot of Batman's rogue gallery.

Biggest even would have to be her and Harley Quinn take over the Asylum. Here Ivy betrays Harley and Catwoman disowns her friendship with Ivy as well. She is about to execute both of them but lets them go. She then begins to lash out against Gotham using huge vines and such but Batman ends up stopping her. Thats the end post crisis ivy.

Then in the new 52 which is a reboot once again, here she begins with Birds of Prey.


A good origins story is also Detective Comics 23.1 if you're into the new 52 origin.


I can go into more depth on some parts if you would like. Hopefully this helps a bit on her origin.

There was Batman and Batman Returns. Then there was a huge dark period. Then Christopher Nolan graced us with Batman Begins and the rest is history. There was some good music on the soundtracks during the dark period though, I still listen to those.

I hear you on this :/ This was the worse batman movie ever to be released... the original flicks could at least account for their campy style being a product of the times.

I am on the drawing boards today mapping some stuff out. I kind of like the aspects of betrayal and the transformation to her alter ego, being immersed in insanity. Besides... who doesnt fantasize an innocent college girl being infatuated and then stepping into her own... albeit paired with insanity.

p.s. did you know that there was a comic "The Black Orchid" by Neil Gaiman highlighting Poison ivy? He wrote the likes of "The Sandman". If you are a DC fan I strongly recommend both of these as it steps even deeper into the dark side of their universe.

Yes, I think those women are sexists themselves for giving such comments and their insecurity is astonishing... Are those women perhaps trying to say that a definition of a strong woman is bottomless pit of arrogance with a mouth full of nothing, but superficial jealous poop, while having comics full of unnaturally sexists male characters are fine? This is clearly the "how main character would look as a woman" and those strong women with a sensual side is like a peak of evolution... I have to admit, that kind of a woman is very close to very original fantasies I've ever had. Thus if anything that's closest to the natural attraction than anything else over any superficial poop those devilish insecure women are trying to force me to like unnaturally...
