Please Help Puerto Rico

Well now you've done it Apollo. When you stand up to Cornpone Socrates over here, you deem yourself, "incapable of debate."

BTW genius, (back to talking to BC, Apollo you 'n' me, we cool), it was 2009, he was considering it, it was the Senate aaand he would have run as a Republican.

I don't have too. I'll let people who know do it for me:

That's my debate skills Cletus. Facts from people who know facts. Not venom spewed by disgruntled mouth breathers working out of a strip mall in Raleigh-Durham.

Yes Lemuel, I was personally acquainted with every General in the Army. We played cribbage on Wednesdays. Gen. Honore' himself once said to me, "Dude! Wicked good game brah! And I hear you're a Liberal Democrat too. Have some pineapple chunks." One of the highlights of my life. It's right there in my diary.

Dat Marine daddy tho.

Both Honore' and Cruz are partisan liberal Democrats but I'll give them credit, they are both smarter than you. Ah yes, you have such stellar debate skills and they are constantly on display here. Between a "yeehaw" "Jesus Tapdancing Christ" and "Cletus" why I'm surprised you aren't selling your wares to MSNBC or CNN. Now come on now Giuseppe, you really think the North Kakalaki crap is cutting? After all they don't offer a CSI New Jersey because they all have the same DNA. Do you even hold a college degree? Even an associate's degree? Must come in real handy while dealing cards and sucking up for tokens.
The bottom line here is you stayed away for a year supposedly because I hurt your feelings and when you came back you started running off at the mouth about my ban as if you knew the terms of it. They made a few people chuckle I must confess.

The fact is that you and a few others would have been running around here on the morning of November 9th but things didn't turn out your way so you licked your wounds and crawled back but only once you thought I was perma-banned.
Oh and about my dad who actually did serve in the United States Marine Corps 2nd Company Force Recon ( Google it soldier) and is now deceased, the fact that you would bring him into the conservation indicates that you never served except in that echo chamber between your ears.

From now on you'll be known as GI Faux.

All things considered, that's an appropriate response, though not for the reasons you most likely think. Laughter is the best medicine, after all, in lieu of crying. Perhaps you should revisit the "Bannon Out" thread, there's a lot of lessons for you there, as well as some humble pie. It's always entertaining to see Harry and Lloyd giving each other high fives.

So there is humble pie over there eh? Is that anything like revenge? Bwahaha

Sanders: Trump attacking San Juan mayor is 'unspeakable'

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/01/politics/bernie-sanders-mick-mulvaney-puerto-rico-cnntv/index.html

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders on Sunday rebuked President Donald Trump's decision to attack the mayor of San Juan on Twitter as Puerto Rico continues to struggle after being hit by back-to-back hurricanes.

"It is unspeakable," Sanders told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."
Sanders drew a contrast between Trump and San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, saying Trump was "speaking from his fancy golf club, playing golf with his billionaire friends, attacking the mayor of San Juan, who is struggling to bring electricity to the island, food to the island, water to the island, gas to the island."

Sanders also said it would be fair for people to wonder if race was a factor in Trump's response to the devastation in Puerto Rico.
"Given the President's history on race, given the fact that he, a few months ago told us that there were good people on both sides when neo-Nazis were marching in Charlottesville, yeah, I think we have a right to be suspect that he is treating the people of Puerto Rico in a different way than he has treated the people of Texas or Florida," Sanders said.

Yulín Cruz said in an interview on ABC's "This Week" that White House homeland security adviser Tom Bossert called her several days ago, and the administration was coordinating with her team to provide aid. She also said she would meet with Trump if he asked her to when he visits the island on Tuesday.

Yulín Cruz maintained the focus should be foremost on saving the people of Puerto Rico.
"Let us not talk about the debt," Yulín Cruz said, referring Puerto Rico's crippling debt load. "Let us not talk about the cost of reconstruction. Let us just talk about saving lives right now."

In a separate interview on the same program, White House budget director Mick Mulvaney defended Trump's tweets and said he interpreted them as Trump trying to impress upon the public how difficult the storm relief efforts were.

"I think it's unfair to say we haven't done everything we can because we have done everything that we can and will continue to do so," Mulvaney said.
"It's unfortunate that the Puerto Rico mayor wants to, excuse me the San Juan mayor, wants to sort of go against the grain," he said, adding that Yulín Cruz should visit the FEMA command center on the island.
"We'd love to have her on the team as well," he said.

Mulvaney said some people were looking for reasons to snipe at the Trump administration and that the public should consider the administration's actions over words.
"Judge us by the actions, please," Mulvaney said. "Judge us by what's happening on the island."

Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich, a frequent critic of the President, said in an interview on CNN that Trump's attack was uncalled for.
"It's not appropriate," Kasich said. "When people are in the middle of a disaster, you don't start trying to criticize them. I don't know what to say."

I just read your 10:39 post. From where do you get the nerve to say anything about "debate" or "debate skills"?

You're an angry, ignorant hillbilly. That's my response to this latest sewage. That is my response to all your sewage.

Now, get the fuck back on topic or shag your angry, ignorant hillbilly ass somewhere that you can.

Yeah....2 years ago. Considering there hasn't been any further mention on his part of a foray into politics, I don't think your argument holds any water.

Even if it did (and that's besides the fact), someone can't criticize the President's reaction to a disaster without having an ulterior motive? I suppose when Michael Brown criticized Obama for acting too quickly with Hurricane Sandy, he knew what he was talking about (Heckuva job, Brownie  ) and wasn't just trying to get the spotlight on himself. When Limbaugh said Obama did his job for a couple days just to look presidential, I'm sure he was saying that out of concern for those who were affected and not merely trying to get attention or a ratings boost.

Yeah, you're right, there really can be no valid criticism directed at the Commander in Chief, everyone who speaks up is a self-serving asshole.
Good to see you posting more. Now that the reinforcements were called in. You seem to make indirect comments your personal bone to pick.
You seem rather charitable with your commentary. Do you offer to randomly pick up the tab in restaurants too?

Honore' and Cruz are both partisans and for you to act as if they aren't shows how out of touch that you are with the current political climate. Perhaps a remedial current events course and exam is in order.

Yes, I am a hillbilly. Ignorant too. I hold a JD from UNC and an LL.M from Georgetown.
And you?

Ya'll come back now, ya hear?

Please, let's look at the reality. One storm sweeps in and another one stronger right behind it. Ships can move only so fast and airplanes need communications and clear places to land. Unload supplies and people and now they have to move the stuff to the desperate. How are they going to carry this stuff to the needy? Roads are blocked. No electricity to communicate as how to get from place A to place B. It was 4 days of pounding disaster. Puerto Rico needs everything now. You can't mobilize any response to something like this overnight.

And Will, please, comparing bears to human beings? Not the time to make that argument. Are you suggesting that USA send no aid to teach Puerto Rico a lesson?

Not a time to toy around with the National Guard, time to send in the Army Corps of Engineers and the Seabees, they're experts at clearing shit and making it usable.

If by reinforcements you mean Mayhem, xfire, Jagger, and the like, I don't need them in my corner to voice an opinion. If you meant actual reinforcements to Puerto Rico, than that's just a matter of my being here after the fact; life outside of this place keeps me busy, and I'm not often encouraged to post here regardless with all the vitriol that gets thrown back and forth.

If I go for indirect comments (which I probably do, admittedly), it's to keep from getting dragged into an argument or debate that most likely won't end up being resolved and will eat up more of my time than it should be given (as I mentioned, my free time is now a commodity).

I'll ignore the jab at me personally, it's not worth it to respond. If something I said came across as a personal attack, I apologize.

I'm not disputing that Cruz is partisan (that would be ignorant), but you've failed to make a case for Honore' being partisan outside of you simply saying so. In 2009, he ran as a Republican. In the 2015 governor's race (which he ended up not entering), he was expected to run as an Independent. Maybe I'm that out of touch, but neither of those is a Democrat (despite what you or anyone else may say about Independents being Democrats without labeling themselves as such). He can certainly express views that fall in line with a leftist culture without saying he is, and it's no place of yours to claim he's a Lefty when you haven't offered any definitive proof that he is save your opinion. If you can find something that goes to show how much in step he falls with that crowd I'll read it and answer honestly, but right now I don't care enough to scan the entirety of the internet to find pieces to bolster my opinion or dispute yours.

Maybe I am out of touch with certain things, but I don't claim to be infallible either. Maybe it would serve you to keep that in mind for yourself.

My nephew just got notice that he will be deployed to PR for a minimum of 14 days. I read the E-mail. Be prepared to live in a tent and sleep on a cot. Bring personal products. Adverse conditions. Is he in the military? No. Is he a National Guardsman? No. He is a 40 year old electrician that works in a VA hospital. Being that he works for the federal government, he is obligated as a condition of employment to be called upon for such deployment. Another guy from his workplace is also going. I'm sure that those two are not the only federal employees being sent.

Army is not enough for this disaster. Millions of people on an island all of a sudden have nothing. No food, no water, no shelter. I don't want to hear any kind of shit about Donald Trump not waving his magic want to make this all go away overnight.

Think about it. Ship containers with everything the Puerto Rican people HAVE BEEN LIVING UPON in their day to day lives are already there. No power or fuel to move the stuff. Can't get down the roads either. Don't know what roads have been washed out. Give me a break people. Are we supposed to be prepared for any and every cataclysmic event that has never happened before?

Bob Johnson is right.

Not only was PR ill-prepared to care for its people before the hurricane (does anybody remember they were begging for a bailout?) but San Juan's mayor is such a fucking lunatic that she's tried to spit in President Trump's eye at the expense of her people's safety. She held her bullshit press conference in front of pallets of food and supplies while claiming they didn't have any food or supplies. By the way, how did she get the "Help Us We're Dying" t-shirt she wore for her Anderson Cooper hit piece if they were without power?

The President's response was timely and pretty well planned. The distribution problem lies in the fact that PR's trucker union is holding the whole fucking island hostage because their contract negotiations turned to shit, so now they're making everyone else feel the pain.

The US has sent hundreds of thousand pounds of food, dispatched hundreds of ships, suspended the Jones Act to make it easier for foreign aid to be delivered; and two nuclear subs capable of generating a couple gigawatts of power have been sent as well.

Fuck everyone's fake fucking outrage.

...Now let's get to that Mayor of San Juan. I'm not going to fault her for her reaction from the "feel good story" statement from what's-her-name. CNN baited her for a comment on that. Mayor took the bait. Mayor should have told CNN that she would not comment and continue talking about the situation handed to her. About the work on the ground and in the back rooms. Personal opinions are not news.
