Ok ok my last HD rant. It is 2014 and no person or site should be wasting precious bandwidth distributed lower res than 1080p. Most people are using cameras able to shoot hi res images but companies are cheap and don't want to use resources to allow HD images. Not only the companies shooting porn but amateurs as well. If it's less than 1080p don't bother. It seems like half the internet is polluted with low res imagery. I can deal with some instances like classics Austin Kincaid things like that. But, seriously what is with all the low res images? Bang Bros still shoots in 720p lol as well as sites like fucking machines not sure the name of that companies main site because they bore me with the quality. We should seriously stop upgrading our TV's 4k is a joke if I can't have my porn, and believe me I would settle for SD. Sadly though, HD ruined that for me.

You know what´s gonna happen when these sites "upgrade" to 1080p, right? They´re gonna lower the bitrate on the 1080p videos to something like 3000kb/s to save bandwidth, and end up with a video that actually looks worse than their 720p videos. Resolution in itself says nothing about the quality of the video, so i would take Bangbros 720p videos over overcompressed 1080p videos any day.

I agree with Patrick and Bribi. While having high quality imagery and videos is important, any site that doesn't exclusively use the largest, highest quality content has their reasons, some of which you might not understand. There's more to making and releasing porn than getting a naked girl, snapping photos, and sticking it online. It costs time, money, requires very expensive equipment, and websites require a lot of power to not only host the content, but have enough bandwidth for uploading, downloading and surfing.
What more do you want, to see every individual body hair and pore? To be able to see up their noses? How about make all porn 3D? Oh there's not enough interracial! We need more gangbangs! More anal! Gaping! 50 girls with one guy! Shove buckets up your pussies! Too many girls are going back to bush!

They use some pretty awesome cameras to shoot these days, so to take such high quality photos and degrade them makes no sense. There is tons of porn that is out there for folks with slow connections. Today a cell phone is capable of higher quality photos than some sites put out. I had a Reality Kings subscription and the quality of pics was a joke. However, there were free galleries of higher res pics than what is available to their members for Reality Kings. It's not like I'm asking for 4k by no means. These companies make bank so they have the means for server space. Brazzers has high res images and videos with 11000kbps which is awesome. Forgive me for wanting to have more than one awesome subscription to use. Again these companies make bank and have the means to put out on quality at least to 1080p. The video editing cost alone they pay for happily and the sites themselves have pretty impressive designs (most sites). It takes some high paid code monkeys to make them look the way they do.

I see it this way: there can be two main areas where bandwith can be a problem. The site where the data is transfered from and the computer where it is to be stored.
Now if there are a given number of users at the same time which can create the situation, everyone that goes for a smaller data package makes it better for the users who go for the big ones.
So, to sum it up, smaller videos files are actually your friend, unless you are unconsciously drawn to the small files, but that would be a mental issue, not a technical

If every porn vendor offered 1080p for EVERY file they had available, the data storage required on their servers would cost a hell of a lot more than it already does. Also try living in Australia where our internet is the equivalent of developing countries, or close to it. Anything much ABOVE 480p for porn is a waste of bandwidth IMO. Shit takes hours to download as it is, 1080p could take days! Plus I'm too busy enjoying the sexy women and hot fucking going on, to notice the difference between 480p and 1080p. So I would much rather studios and vendors concentrate on producing top notch porn than whether they offer 1080p or not.

As far as the OP's comments .... Well it all depends on your monitor and your harddrive(s) ... my VGA monitor is 12 1/4' by 19 3/4' (big but not huge) and I have two external harddrives besides my main harddrive so mp4 and .mpeg videos of 720p are good for me as are pictures 1200 pixels x 1800 pixels. In fact, with pictures of 1200 pixels by 1800 pixels, I have to then use Microsoft Picture Manager and Microsoft Paint to shrink them down further so that I can view them properly and if necessary post and download them here.
There can still be smaller files while providing 1080p to users that have the capability to download it. As far as server space they can save by getting rid of some formats like .wmv. Almost like how gas would be cheaper if mid grade was eliminated. Server space is not even a cost factor these days. The most expensive cost is the motherboard, cpu, and ram needed to make downloading to the masses possible. The connection is also expensive I believe but it's already being paid for by these companies to deliver even small files to many users at once. "If" it mad the cost go up I'm sure some would be willing to pay. As for first world problems, sorry I live in the U.S. where we have bigger homes and cars and faster internet than some other countries.
