Playstation3 Question

My playstation 3 cannot read any of my game or blueray disks. It can still read dvd. My playstation 3 is out of warranty. I heard it cost 150 excluding shipping to get sony to fix a playstation with this type of situation. Can anyone confirm this? Also, does anyone know of cheap places where they fix playstation?

i'd ask in the games section personally, you'll receive more help and less people flipping you shit...and i know next to nothing about PS3's so i can't help you :dunno:

I don't know any cheap places where you can repair it, then again my PS3's never been broken.

That happened to me, did it freeze in the middle of gameplay right before it broke? I'm afraid you're gonna have to pay $ 150 to get it fixed. Or just buy a new one.

this just happened to both mine and my cousins...unfortunately its fried, you have to cough up 150$ or buy a new one all together

or heres a better plan

buy and xbox 360 (which is what i did)

thanks everyone. i might get a new one because it is probably going to cost me $200 to get it fixed. hopefully i can find a deal where i can get a ps 3 for under 300 with black friday and christmas around the corner.

Going by that advice then you will end up like me. I am on my third Xbox at the moment and I've a fourth sitting at the side waiting on standby.

The PS3 I have I've had it since 2006 (60 gb model) and it is working fine. More reliable for the majority of users out there so it is. If it is the same model I have then it is worth getting it fixed. As the 60 gig model is more stable than other versions... or so I heard. And even in that the return rate is ruled by XB and then PS and then Wii. Wii is third because no bugger uses theirs often.

I pity the fool who buys a 360.

Agreed. The 360 is nice, but the failure rates are MUCH higher than the PS3.

Get a Nintendo video game cartridge blow on the inside of it, and then put it in.

Same thing happened to mine about a year ago... It was over the warranty date, so I bought a new one. I love it, especially the new Netflix app, I can stream movies to my flatscreen in the den via wireless!

Don't know where the OP is located, but a lot of times, you can find people on Craigslist who can repair them for a fraction of the $150 from Sony.

Another option is to sell it at a cut rate price to those who fix them, and use the money to buy one of the newer slim models.I've had mine for just under a year and haven't had any problems with it,and they are just generally more reliable than the older models.I've yet to read or hear of anyone having any issues with them yet.
