Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!
The former New York Giant and Super Bowl hero from 2008 pleaded guilty on a weapons felony charge and agreed on a plea that puts him in prison for two years.

I knew he was fucked from the beginning when the Mayor & DA did the their public grandstanding.
Burress would probably have taken the plea earlier ,but was hoping the Grand Jury by some miracle or sympathy would not indict him I guess .

2 years IS harsh for shooting yourself(considering some far more pernicious crimes which get less time) ,but the plea deal does save the City time & money & lowers his risk of getting the mandatory three & a half years.

Tough laws in NY for carrying.Too bad for the Giants, they lose one, eagles get one.

good it will send a statement to all the other people in the world just cus you win a superbowl and you think your untouchable the law will get you if you break it

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
it will also send the statement that if you are gonna carry a weapon, get one with a safety and use it. he is gonna do more time than Vick...for being stupid

Not defending his punk-ass stupidity at all but the sentence seems excessive in relation to the crime to me. I mean, the only guy he shot was himself....so he gets 2 years in prison? Good thing he didn't end up killing himself....I bet they'd give him the death penalty!

Facetious

Moderated
and the guy does it with a heavy double action trigger !
Ok, so he reaches into his trousers , grasps the pistol, places his index finger inside the trigger guard, pulls back.....back .... back...long travel glock trigger here, please be patient... we got a ways to go here...baaaack..... baaack BLAMMO !

On one hand Plaxico Burress is pretty stupid. On the other hand New York gun laws are extremely stupid, and probably unconstitutional in most ways. I'd say he probably got a disproportionately harsh sentence for the crime he committed. It's especially bad when you have other players in other places killing people while driving drunk and only getting a couple months in jail.

i'm not defending Plaxico he should serve some jail time, but getting 2 years that's crazy. meanwhile WR Donte Stallworth received 30 days for killing a 59 yr old man WTF. fuck you mayor bloomberg you look like a (Albino Monkey)

He stupid for not taking the plea deal which was only 3 months jail time and 1500 hours of community service. I think his career is over

NY has had the sullivan law for almost a 100 years now. It's fairly well known that you are gonna get some significant Jail time for carrying without a permit in NY.What Burress got was a plea deal, would have been longer if convicted at a trial. Here is a link on sullivan law.Interesting list of people who have or had permits.

Current and past New York City license holders include:

Senator Charles Schumer
Don Imus
Harvey Keitel
Joseph Bruno
Ronald Lauder
Edgar Bronfman, Sr.
Howard Stern
Donald Trump
William F. Buckley Jr.
Joan Rivers
Arthur Hays Sulzberger
Robert DeNiro

It may be on the harsh side and its constitutionality may come into question with some recent rulings from supreme court but Burress really had no buisness carrying a piece IMO and should have been aware of where he was and what the laws were.

When the DA or Burress(or his Lawyers) say he turned down 3 months I shall believe it & not some internet rumors/reports by Sal Pal Antonio(?) & Bloggers.

The guy had absolutely no leverage with mandatory sentencing(3 & 1/2 years) & a Mayor/DA whom ,like the norm today, want to make an example of a celebrity.

The Plea deal would still be on the table before he goes to trial as the city would stand to save Millions of dollars(one of the main considerations in plea deals is time & money).

Really senseless that this guy got two years. Here he would be laughed at,fined & have his gun taken away.

Seems kind of excessive to me but what the hell, I'm not that familiar with NY law.
(Thanks for the link FOMM)

What's also doubly bad about it is that, unless what I have heard is wrong, it's pretty much borderline impossible for a normal person to get a license either in any reasonable manner. Of course Buress probably fit's in more with an elite crowd and doesn’t qualify as normal.

In a way he is quite fortunate that there is a "lock out" in place right now. That way he can train at his own pace to get back into playing condition...AND, more importantly IMHO, he is able to have plenty of time to connect and bond with his family again...which he wouldn't have as readily if he were in an NFL camp right now.

I'm pretty confident that he will land somewhere next season (whenever that may be), because I would imagine that he still has a lot of talent left in his tank. Teams I heard mentioned as likely suitors were the Rams, Dolphins, and Jets.

I've hated Plaxico since he played for Sparty. He's a fucking dumbass. He'll always be a fucking dumbass. I hope he toils in mediocrity for the rest of his career.

I must admit that I share the sentiment about him being a dumbass. He played for my Steelers....and yeah....dumbass pretty much sizes him up in a nut shell. He had talent on the field....but, not the sharpest tool in the shed by a long shot.
