Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal

Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens
is not economically productive for the United States.

You have two families: "Joe
Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families
have two parents, two children, and live in California.

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social
Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour
with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction,
has NO Social Security Number, and gets
paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Ready? Now pay attention...

Joe Legal:
$25..00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or
$52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and
federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal:
$15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or
$31,200.00 per year. Jose illegal pays no taxes.
Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with
limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month,
or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage
through the state and local clinics at a
cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has
$31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible
for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00
per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is
eligible for food stamps and welfare.
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or
$14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy.
Jose Illegal pays $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year.
Jose Illegal still has $25,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance.
Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no
stinkin' insurance!" and still has $25,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00
stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.

Jose Illegal has to make his $25,200.00
stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of
the country every month.

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays
or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights
and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school.
Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while
Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch.
Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program.
Joe Legal's children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the
same police and fire services, but Joe paid
for them and Jose did not pay.

Some statements, arguments, realisations, are often put across as informed opinion to the extent that are understood as final truth. There are other factors to consider. One see "letters to the editor" where people put acrtoss their point as the final truth. Not everything is so clear cut.

One needs a better understanding of just what these politicians are trying to achieve.

I think border control is necessary, but not hamstringing the courts to perpetuate illegal immigration.
Look, I do agree with doing away with borders, but not until each country has a government, funded by its own people, that serves its own people the way it should. I do believe in 'loving thy neighbour", so when someone passes us on the street they don't have to think to themselves, "This person thinks I don't belong here".

Like that is going to happen in our lifetime.

Well, maybe.

Hope springs eternal in the human heart.

I really like this comment.

"First we leave our countries for reasons of unfair government and violence in our countries. We come believing life will be better here and that the Americans will accept us. Some do, but Racist Bastards DON'T! Most illegal immigrants pay taxes and we don't steal "your" jobs, and if some lazy people wouldn't just throw the opportunity of education away(Americans) you wouldn't even consider having the jobs we put up with! And yes we demand citizenship. And we do respect US laws and citizens."

I really like that illustration of Joe Legal and Jose Illegal.

It goes to show why we all have a vested interest in making sure everyone who comes to this country achieves legal status.

Even more important, though, than worrying about the influx of people looking to compete for employment, is making sure that our businesses and industries are creating enough jobs for people to compete for, in the first place.

As a person who has been laid off from private sector jobs twice, I can truthfully say that I didn't lose my job to an illegal immigrant.

My job was simply exported to someone in India.

People can wring their hands about illegal immigration all they want, but the problem isn't Jose Illegal.

It's Bob Corporate, the same fucker who shipped my job overseas, crashed the country's economy, hid all of his money away in an overseas tax shelter, and got a huge chunk of bailout money from George W. Bush for his trouble.

Agreed. If it isn't India, it is China.

Check this out: if you want to buy USA products, you can see where it is made by the '0' at the beginning of the number.

690-692 … then it is MADE IN CHINA .
00 - 09 … USA & CANADA
30 - 37 … FRANCE
40 - 44 … GERMANY
47 ... Taiwan
49 … JAPAN
50 … UK

BUY USA by watching for "0" at the beginning of the number. We need every boost we can get.

Quite possibly the time has come for Mexico and the US to pool our resources.
