Pet burials

One of my cats won't be alive in a years time, so besides making him as happy as possible I've been looking into what to do when the time comes. This will be the first time I've lost a pet since moving to town, on the farm we had a place reserved for all the family pets. The town I live in has a law against pet burial on your own property, as I imagine several towns do. My brother has offered his place for burial so that is probably what I will do.

What do most city dwellers do when a loved pet dies?

The last time we had a pet pass away we had no place to bury him. The the vet referred me to this one place that did pet cremations and they would send you the ashes. It came in a sealed wooden box with the nameplate. Whether it actually contains the ashes or not, I'm just going to have to trust them on that. I just wanted some kind of memorial.

I had heard of the cremation services and like you wondered about the ashes. I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. I got lucky and captured the big kitty doing one of his strange meows on video. He will start running across the floor in mid meow causing the whole meow to stutter. Cracks me up every time.

There is an urban legend in Chicago that on the far North-side, local Vietnamese or Koreans are willing to pay a premium on (dead) dog meat. And they pick up too.

My dog isn't dead yet to substantiate if these rumors are true or not.

I'm lucky enough to live in a developement that handles these services. Large green metal receptacles that carry our furry loved ones to their final resting place.

My dog passed away last month and the vet charged an arm and a leg to put my dog down. The vet also said it would cost more if I wanted to keep the ashes. For all you know the ashes could've gotten mixed with other dogs ashes. All I got back from the vet was a "I'm sorry your dog died" greeting card. Never again.

Burial would've been a preferred choice just that there wouldn't be any room and i'm not sure if it is legal.

He was a cute little guy, how long did you have him? I would like to bury my cat thankfully my brother has a nice place where it is allowed. The big kitty will be joining several other beloved pets at that location.

Any pets I own will be buried in my backyard. I'm not sure if it's legal or not. As much as I love my pets, I don't really want a memorial on my mantle.

Enjoy the rest of your time with your little guy!
