As a follow-up to my post about being careful not to reveal real names, I found myself on some "Dirty" site and came across not one but four one-timers (i.e., regular women not in the industry who have apparently appeared in nothing else) who were outed, and deluged by judgmental and self-righteous squirts whose prime motivation is to hound these women and disgrace them (no end to the charges of "trash," "hooker," "whore," and, no less sadly, with few commenters who disagree... it is heart-wrenching); I came back here to see if any had made it to the list, and I see Elizabeth Hawkenson has just been referred to. (Unfortunately, her case has been so widely scandalized, there would be little sense in making sure not to spread the revelation further around.)
(Here is a Ukraine-based site - meaning little recourse for defamation - that has gone to town on poor Elizabeth, hiding behind the "parody" excuse; yet there is hardly anything satirical in their approach.)
The other three ladies are more obscure, and I can't believe that the incredible researching skills of D1050 and our venerable thread-starter, Jander711 would not have come across them. (I see one or more have been mentioned on other Freeones pages already.) So I wanted to thank especially you, D1050, for keeping them off the list.
The source of the page D1050 has linked to, the Phoenix New Times, seems to have some obsession with Mr. Whittaker and his BCC site; I had pointed to another article from them, in my first post on this thread, and they have a good several others. On the page most recently linked to, we can see a "NotZnany" among the commenters. Running into his contributions where BCC is the topic is not unusual, and hard to miss, given his rude tendency to make many copies of his posts. He is scarily zealous. (And harsh. I noticed in one of his posts that he accuses site-owner Eric Whitaker of being a "rapist," and at the same time, his prey as "whores." Guess he thinks rape victims ask for it.)
You may be interested in this brief page where Mr. Whitaker answers questions from his fans. (And a non-fan, NotXnany, whose questions were ignored. In this case, actually, too bad.) Another critic accuses Mr. Whittaker of having outed Elizabeth and another, in order to jack up his site's recognition. There is no evidence, so we can only hope the claim is untrue.
