Beginning with the obvious - TOO obvious, it seems, nobody thought of MJ. He made it from Rhythm and Blues charts for black artists to Pop charts. I believe that was a big reason for him getting himself all bleached and his nose etc turned white boy.

Please note:

I am posting one video per post, the browser performance goes to hell with all those multi-video posts. Please, for the love of porn, slow down.

And then one of the gems of Van Halen, with Diamond Dave at his finest. Dressed up a bit like the guy from Cameo

A favorite of mine, okay, it's from '79, but these guys are from northern Germany, and they specify in lyrics around vikings, peat digging, mead, and everyday issues. Like his favorite jack-hammer ("Presslufthammer")

... and then there's Modern Talking. Strangely enough pretty much nobody admits to listening, let alone buying this, yet they were massive here, and the blonde mastermind, Dieter Bohlen is something like the german Simon Cowell.

For the EMPEROR!!
"Desire'" by U2. The whole "Rattle and Hum" album was fantastic.

"Another One Bites the Dust".

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
In my opinion, the only really ground breaking thing that came from the 80's was Mettalica. I think it sucks that the 70's is known as the disco era, but in truth, most of the greatest music came from that time. Bands like Yes, and Genesis, or some of the bands listed here, that actually started in the 70's, like Alice cooper, and Queen. There were a lot of good tunes, but very few bands stood the test of time.

I think we have some less important tunees and bands in here. My post of Cameo - well, they didn't really did anything THAT new. Modern Talking and Torfrock are really more europeaan, maybe mainly german. Yet they made a massive footprint.

Metallica... I don't think they were THAT game-changing. Mind you, they were bid, but they are literally BEGGING to finally get invited to WACKEN OPEN AIR, world's largest annual hard rock, metal festival, in (yes) in North Germany :)

Every major act was there. Lars Ulrich's email got published, he wants to go there ^^

Okay, one more from the eighties. this was quite a punch
