Today ...
I wrote over 500 lines of script. I hate doing this crap, I feel it serves no need. It does nothing. I'd rather write C/C++ or Java code and get some re-use.
But no one else likes to do it at so many of my clients -- especially for deployment or integration automation. Especially since I can actually deal with exception handling better than I've seen anyone else (especially in script, where most just ignore it). Years of writing anal-level autopilot and telemetry code tends to dictate such an attitude. So far, other than having to fight clients on project time-lines where they think the tasks are way too long, it has paid off though, and keeps me employed (especially by first-hand referral).
Tomorrow I have an interview with a prospective client. That won't be productive. Especially not considering all the legs in my flight itinerary.
