I'd appraise that this guy probably learned this from his father or grand father.
It's really sad, but that's what farmers etc would do before there was an amimal control / humane society apparatus in place.
For Example - When wild ferel kittens would be found on the family farm, abandoned by the mama kat, the farmer couldn't feed the wild kittens because they would grow up and kill all of the chickens.

You know the rest of the story. :(

He acted out of character for his job title, no doubt.

Why is it sad that farmers used to do that to control the animal population on a farm. Hell, my Grandfather used to hit puppies in the head with rocks when they were born, he had to, otherwise they would starve to death. Really, which is worse? They didn't have humane societies back then, there was nothing else he could do. Before you call him an animal hater, he has raised over 100 horses in his lifetime, and respected the hell out of animals. He just understood things had to be done. I guess I just have a different view of things growing up in the country and experiencing it first hand. I have had to shoot a lame dog before. I have had to shoot a dangerous dog before. Things have to be done sometimes. I don't agree with how this guy did it, but if he was doing it as a way for animal control, then I understand it a little more then him doing it just to get off on sadistic pleasures. He might have been acting out the orders of a higher up, who knows. It is a lot cheaper to drown a kitten, then to have it put down.

Well Done.

City / urban people (not a pejorative) appear to have a difficult time grasping this concept.

I would like to dispatch them to their local pet shelter with their check book lol :angels:

Actions speak !

There sure are valid reasons to kill animals, such as hunting, that the animal is wounded or dangerous, even euthanasia in cases of excessive population, but there is NO PLACE for abuse. Drowning a kitten when it could be properly euthanized is abuse. Years ago, we didn't have proper methods of euthanasia. The fact stands that today we do. Killing an animal for no reason OR in a manner which increases the suffering from a minimum is unacceptable IMO, and should be punished harshly.

Just to play "devil's advocate", I wonder if people would be as upset if he just quickly snapped their neck and killed them rather than drown them.

I'm still traumatized from watching the video of the soldier throwing the puppy off the cliff....

hearing/reading/seeing animal cruelty angers me more than anything else in the world. Fucker should die...I'd gladly assist with that.

So animal cruelty angers you more then a person going into a Wendy's and shooting up the place? Or a messed up kid shooting up the campus of VT? What about the millions of people in the world without food or homes? How about a corrupt government official sending thousands of people over to Iraq to die?

Look people I understand animal cruelty sucks, but there are much worse things happening to humans out there everyday. Worse things that I am sure nobody even gives a second glance to. But hell, don't touch my kitten or I will come down on you with the wrath of God
