Obama's gaffe dwarfs all others

President Obama today apologized to the ****** of a Medal of Honor recipient whom he erroneously said was still alive.

On Thursday at Fort Drum, the president told troops from the 10th Mountain Division that he previously "had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.”

Wrong. Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti was actually ****** in Afghanistan on June 21, 2006. In September 2009, President Obama awarded him the Medal of Honor posthumously.

Just wow..Even Bush never made a mistake like that and he wasn't what you would call a "great" speaker!

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
:*****: Not a big deal.

****** him on his foreign policy, the state of the economy, or the unemployment rate, but don't bother me with this bullshit and call it a big deal. He apologized, it's done.

People make mistakes. Move on.

It's good he corrected his mistake and didn't insist that the guy was still alive over the objections of the truth and his grieving parents.:o

"Apology accepted."

Some politicians....well...uh....we don't know what their response to a mistake or misspeak might be....:1orglaugh

Yes and this is a huge deal.

Buh-Bye in 2012

It isn't. I'm not sure who is going to run against Obama to make him go "Buh-Bye".

I wouldn't mind seeing a change in leadership just to see a new set of facing say defending their "guy" no matter what and not seeing any improvements needed.

:D

I do not know who is going to replace him. He has not been doing anything good for America. He needs to go.

Nah, he just invaded a country based on the word of some shadowy Iraqi flunky and got tens of thousands of people ****** and about a trillion dollars spent. I kind of wish that my boy W. had made fifty mistakes like this and not made the one BIG one in Iraq.

Admittedly, this is a mistake. But (and with all due respect to the soldier and his ******), it's not as if he was a well known person, who everyone should have known was dead (or alive).

Oh...you're there already? I'm still stuck on the part of trying to figure what being a good or bad speaker has to do with this..

That said the statement, 'Bush never made a mistake' on the order of this is pretty awe inspiring for it's profound ridiculousness.

At least I won't hear about the '57' States for awhile when it was obviuos he intended to say he had visited '47 of 50 states' and mistakenly said '57'.

Obama makes self deprecating jokes and moves on(like most honest/sane politicians would) when he makes a gaffe.

But had Bachmann, Palin, etc, .... had said '57' states they would have sworn to the end that they were correct and were actually counting US territories like Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, D.C., American Samoa,etc......

John Quincy Adams was about 9 or 10 during the American Revolution ignorant ass . They (GOP politicians )would rewrite history instead of admitting they were wrong or actually made a mistake when history doesn't quite fit into their narrowminded contemporary views.

lol - never mind that he has advanced ******* wars in Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and Pakistan..... permanently protected ******* crimes, authorizes assassinations of US citizens, completely fucked the single-payor option which was the whole point of Health Care reform.....

Fuck all that piddly ****...

GODDAMNIT THIS MOTHERFUCKER MISSPOKE!!! ARGGHHH! ASSAULT AGAINST CHRISTMAS!

This is a bad gaffe. It is attention to details that separate the good from the bad. When talking to the military, as CinC, about a MoH winner, getting the facts right is a big deal. The person who did the research for that event needs to gone.

Do I expect the president to know that off the top of his head? No, but those that brief him better have their **** airtight.

I'd give him kudos for awarding medals to our brave heroes, who sacrifice their lives for our safety and freedom.
