Obamacare or Swine Flu?

Which would you prefer?

Yeah like :wtf:

One is a nasty disease nobody would want and one is an effort to reform health care system that really needs reform. All the 20 and 30 somethings here should be supporting reform more than anyone.First most of you right now just get to pay in and utilize health care very little at your ages.Older people, especially those on medicare, are worried what any reform might do to their benefits. Its them and the right wing nuts screaming about the constitution or similar making all the noise at the town halls etc.The older people concerns have some merit, the whacko's with the socialism rhetoric don't.As I have said before nothing changes and you younger people will be paying and paying and paying. But the insurance companies like that idea.

Can someone explain me, symply, very simply, what's Obamacare ???

Let's see... would I rather have a kick ass case of the flu (that might kill me), or a health care plan that may or may not be so hot? Whew, tough choice!

Since I've had the flu once in my life, and actually wished that I could just go ahead and die, I think I'll take Obamacare (whatever that is).

I'd rather have swine flu that give our government any more power or money.

A heathy person will probably not die from swine flu.

the simple fact of the matter is, the regular run of the mill flu kills more people than the swine flu has/will.

and for god's sake, please tell me you don't believe that "death panel" shit.

I'm not going to hijack the thread, but logically SOMEONE is going to make decisions, whether it's the government or an insurance company. Health care = money, which means it's not an unlimited resource.

Ok I've understood what is the Obamacare.

What about catching swine flu under the health system of the Obamacare ?

Swine Flu, better to be die with good healthcare than die with poor healthcare.

You have good health care or you have a good insurance plan? Define "good" health care. Define a "good" insurance plan. Are you self-employed? What kinds of private policies can self-employed people currently get? If it's an employer sponsored plan, can you take your coverage with you when you switch jobs or become self-employed? What's your lifetime cap? Do you have a lifetime cap? What happens when you exhaust that cap?

Absolutely no offense meant toward you, Ozmanks. But I listened to a guy wailing about "Obamacare" the other day when I was having my car worked on. So those are the questions I (politely) asked him. He didn't know anymore about the plan that he had now (outside of his co-pay) than a man on the moon. He didn't know if he had a lifetime cap. If he did, he didn't know how much it was. I asked him what would happen to his wife and kids if he got really sick and exhausted his private, employer coverage. He didn't know.

The way it so often seems, people are getting wrapped up in the rhetoric and rumors that are flying around. They usually don't know what's in THE plan, because there is no THE plan currently. There's something like 5 proposals flying around. And it is confusing. No doubt about that. But people are getting so emotional, and lacking actual knowledge, they just spout stuff out that seldom makes any sense.

Without looking at your policy, who here can tell me what their lifetime cap is on their employer sponsored plan? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller???

Sadly, this is the most intelligent Republican argument put forth in recent times....
Ummm, last time I checked, he was a hardcore Libertarian-Capitalist and took and still takes many issues with the Republicans as equally as the Democrats. Obama is now in, so he goes after Obama. He did the same of W. as well.

Also remember that Boortz is also play games sometimes, and purposely says things to get people's goat. His comments post-Katrina were explicitly designed to piss people off, while still being true. He doesn't candy coat anything and if there is a more offensive way to make a statement that is actually true in a fiscal or freedom sense, he'll do it explicitly so it pisses people off.

Personally I think what he said post-Katrina was spot-on and needed to be said. Stop building and rebuilding fucking houses below the flood level. That's why hundreds of thousands of people are misplaced every 40 years from New Orleans. It's nothing new.

Exactly, and apparently Freeones is no exception, either ^_^

Swine Flu is overrated. You sure don't see people getting all worried about STDs, they still continue to screw like no tomorrow. Talk about a small outbreak of an obscured virus and next thing you know you have a section, or the whole, nation running around getting shots and vaccines, doctor visits for no real reason, and running around like chickens with no heads!

Same with the bird flu. When that came out how many people were running about with masks on their faces, not going out at all, or running to the doctor because they fell for the whole monkey see monkey do syndrome of illnesses?

People overreact to anything they are unfamiliar with. And apparently viruses that begin with animal names.

Fact is, if you are not elderly or a baby/toddler, healthy in a broad spectrum that concerns what healthy is, you will widely be unaffected by most of these over hyped viruse/flu/illnesses.

As of right now, I am a student and fall under my parents health insurance due to my status as a "dependent." I'm not sure which health insurance my parents use (Both their jobs offer health insurance), but it's been great enough to take care of my families troubles. Right now I'd rather pay a higher price to get in than have free healthcare and have to wait. Obama is right that the healthcare system needs to be reformed, yet universal healthcare is not the answer. The current bill is flawed in the fact that it does not offer incentives for people to become doctors. Most doctors will quit practicing and move onto higher paying jobs.
