The White House sent out a stern warning to states about the refugee battle, saying governors don’t have the power to block the federal government from resettling the migrants and attempts to do so could lead to punitive action.

But the warning didn’t go over well with Republicans. At least one, Virginia’s Rep. Bob Goodlatte, slammed the White House for being “hypocritical” for demanding states obey federal wishes while at the same time ignoring immigration law.

The White House warning came via a two–page letter from the Office of Refugee Resettlement signed by director Robert Carey, and was first reported by the Houston Chronicle. And it sets the stage for a dramatic Tenth Amendment showdown, pitting states’ rights against the federal government at a time when immigration – underscored by recent terror attacks in France – has moved to top of the list among voter concerns.

The letter read, in part: “States may not deny [Office of Refugee Resettlement)–funded benefits and services to refugees based on a refugee's country of origin or religious affiliation. Accordingly, states may not categorically deny ORR–funded benefits and services to Syrian refugees."

Carey goes on to say those states that fail to comply with the federal government would be perceived as law–breakers and "could be subject to enforcement action, including suspension or termination," the Houston Chronicle reported.

The warning comes as two dozen or so governors from mostly Republican–led states have made clear they're not accepting any of the thousands of Syrian refugees the Obama administration is welcoming into the country, expressing concerns for the safety and security of American citizens. The ACLU has already launched a lawsuit against one state, Indiana, for blocking refugees, as WND previously reported.

The White House, meanwhile, has characterized such resistance as un–American, and assured these refugees would be subjected to the necessary vetting. Carey, in his letter, underscored that point.

"[Refugees] are subject to the highest level of security checks of any category of traveler to the United States,” he wrote, the Express reported. “[Screening] is multi–layered and intensive.”

Texas, one of the states fighting the refugees’ resettlement, isn’t caving.

Ann Coulter’s back, and she’s never been better than in “Adios, America!: The Left’s Plan to Turn our Country into a Third World Hellhole.”

Bryan Black, a spokesman for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, the agency that oversees refugee resettlement in the state, said he will continue to abide the previous instructions of Gov. Greg Abbott – and that was to withdraw Texas from participation in the resettlement process.

Abbott had previously sent Obama a letter, saying “American humanitarian compassion could be exploited [by terrorists] to expose Americans to … deadly danger.”

The Associated Press reported states standing in opposition to the federal government on the refugee matter could face termination of participation, and funding, in the ORR program.

Goodlatte, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, had this to say about the matter, Fox News reported: “While the United States has the most generous refugee system in the world, the American people are rightly concerned about admitting Syrian refugees and the impact it would have on the safety of their families and neighbors. … It’s hypocritical for Obama administration officials to threaten enforcement action against these states when they refuse to enforce the vast majority of our immigration laws, such as cracking down on sanctuary cities that openly defy federal law and endanger the American people.”

And he's right about that.

"[Refugees] are subject to the highest level of security checks of any category of traveler to the United States,” he wrote, the Express reported. “[Screening] is multi–layered and intensive.”

Yep

Texas, one of the states fighting the refugees’ resettlement, isn’t caving.

Now there's a big surprise - not.
I guess now that the idiotic Jade Helm frenzy is over Texas conservatives needed something new to wet their pants over.

Ann Coulter’s back, and she’s never been better than in “Adios, America!: The Left’s Plan to Turn our Country into a Third World Hellhole.”

The same Ann Coulter who has passionately expressed her wish, on more than one occasion, that women not be able to vote :1orglaugh
Yeah she's a real beacon of democracy :1orglaugh

I don't recall ever praising him on this board, and don't even think about telling me I have unless you can back it up with proof. I'm merely calling you out on the same shit that others call out Johan on (and you do as well). If you're going to tell him that he doesn't know shit about America, I'm prepared to tell you the same when I see the same behavior evidenced. If you're going to tell him to stick to posting about France and Hollande and all that stuff, I'm going to tell you the same. You're not any wiser about things American than Johan is because you post articles concerning us (the same as he does), so stop pretending that you're so well informed about what things occur here because you can copy and paste an article.

No matter how one feels about the issue in a technical sense Obama is probably correct.

so you think it is normal to care more about refugees before caring about your own homeless people and the veterans??? I am truely speechless

As a matter of fact, I'd rather live homeless in the US than refugee from Syria

As a matter of fact there are officially about 600-650.000 homeless people in the US. 50.000 thousands of refugee won't change things drastically. If the government can take care of 650.000 homeless americans they can take care of them + 50.000 refugees. Even 100.000 refugees wouldn't be a drastic change.

America comes first. Obama is wrong.

let's not forget this while we are at it http://therightscoop.com/obama-issu...grants-from-muslim-nations-over-last-5-years/

Obama has increased the immigration of refugees from Muslim-majority countries between 2009 and 2013, bringing in 680k in just those 5 years with the largest numbers coming from Pakistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, and Iran.

The total over 13 years is now 1.6 million:
CR – As we ominously watch European cities like Brussels and Paris beleaguered by a growing population of homegrown radical Islamists, we must ask what our government is doing to prevent the United States from following the same trajectory. As noted a number of times, our immigration from countries infected with radical Islam has doubled in recent years, totaling over 1.6 million from 2001-2013.

According to a new analysis from the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, chaired by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), this trajectory has grown sharply just over the five most recent years. Counting all of the green cards issued to foreign nationals of predominantly Muslim countries between FY 2009 and FY 2013 alone, the subcommittee found that 680,000 individuals have been granted legal permanent residence in America. That is a larger number than the population of our nation’s capital.

According to published Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data, the U.S. issued 680,000 green cards to migrants from Muslim-majority countries in the five-year period from FY2009 through FY2013. Among those receiving green cards are individuals admitted to the United States as refugees, who must apply for adjustment to Lawful Permanent Resident (green card) status within 1 year of admission. Refugees have instant access to federal welfare and entitlements, along with local benefits and education services; these costs are not offset.

680,000 is not an estimate of total migration, as it does not include temporary migrants who return home, nor is it an estimate of population change, as it does not include births or deaths, among other considerations. Assuming no change in visa policy, the U.S. can expect to give green cards to another 680,000 more migrants from these countries over the next five years. A green card entitles recipients to access federal benefits, lifetime residency, work authorization, and a direct route to becoming a U.S. citizen.

The numbers could be higher still: Census Bureau data shows migration from the Middle East to be one of the fastest-growing categories. Additionally, if left in place, the President’s refugee plan would substantially boost the annual number of migrants from this region admitted to the U.S. who, in turn, would be able to petition for their relatives to migrate to the U.S. in the future. Refugee and asylee admissions from Iraq, Somalia, and Iran alone contributed 124,000 individuals from FY09-FY13.

Wonderful. The welfare state just keeps getting bigger and bigger in Obama’s economy.

Now if we do the math on this, assuming the 1.6 million is accurate, between 2001 and 2008 there would have been 920k migrants brought in those years from Muslim countries. The average per year would be 115k.

If we do the average of 680k over 5 years, we get 136k, which is an increase of 21k migrants per year.

Now these are just averages and don’t represent the number of actual migrants brought in each year. It’s just a comparative tool to show the average increase. You can interpret the numbers how you wish.

Either way, it’s clear Obama has increased immigration from Muslim-majority countries in the last 5 years on record.

Any muslim who comes in the US is one who won't join Daesh

It is very well known that there are sleeping cells of Isis in some very specific places inside the USA. How can you be sure that once a moderate muslim isn't going to turn into a radical one? If you do please tell me. You have absolutely no certainty and no warranty about it. But I see the typical naivety and lack of distrust of some from the left wing with your statement. It is until someone backstabs you that you learn at your expense that he was an ennemy. Preemptive measures as strong as they maybe, prevent crimes and dramas to happen.

Either way, it’s clear Obama has increased immigration from Muslim-majority countries in the last 5 years

The uptick in muslim majority country immigrants to the US began back in 2005 under Bush and has continued under Obama.
Between 2001 and 2005 there a was a lull due primarily to the attitude of many americans towards muslims in the wake of 9/11.

It is very well known that there are sleeping cells of Isis in some very specific places inside the USA....snip

I'd like to see real evidence/reporting on this, if it really exists. Not from the same groups who think things like Jade Helm 15 was the US Army taking over Texas.

they need increasing more voter for next voting in short way
so they taking more refugees

one day US will be like the middle east, bomb everyday, rape, all women clothing like a ninja in the street

It wasn’t that long ago when then Speaker of the House John Boehner threatened to defund ObamaCare, only to once again fall victim to his own meaningless bluster, that finally forced him to tearfully resign under mounting pressure from true conservatives, who value a principled cause over politics as usual, and hopefully a lesson learned by current speaker Paul Ryan.

Who is making the same rumblings as his predecessor, and hopefully with a much different result, in that Speaker Ryan is threatening to defund the Syrian Refugee Program in the United States unless Obama and his administration take more security measures in protecting the homeland.

The recent carnage in Paris and most recently in California should be of primary concern to all public officials to do everything in their power to protect the homeland, however it is not!

Politics and only politics motivates this administration, and Speaker Ryan (if serious), must mean what he says.

There have already been at least two instances where terrorists have gained illegal entrance through the immigration of the Syrian Refugee Program, and the probability that a number of passports are either forged or purchased on the black-market should be of major concern.

As many as 30-state Governors have vowed not to allow any Syrian refugees into their states until further security precautions are taken, however the Obama Administration has the legal authority to override any state law, however the congress holds the purse strings and without funding the program simply falls apart.
