Rahm Emanuel to Resign Soon:

Chicago - There are new reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will step down within the next six to eight months.

The London Daily Telegraph said Emanuel plans to quit because of he is fed up with the idealism of President Obama's closest advisers. It also repeats his interest in running for mayor of Chicago.

The paper said Emanuel is also concerned about burning out and losing touch with his three children.

The paper also reported the president's aides aren't thrilled with Emanuel, either. They're supposedly upset that Emanuel has struggled to get many of the president's top legislative proposals through congress

Not earth shattering. He was reluctant to take the job in the first place because of the impact it might have on his family. (If you recall, ...uh never mind.)

A dedicated family man with a wife, Amy, and three young children, Mr Emanuel has publicly pondered the impact on his family of accepting the chief-of-staff role - a job involving long days and high pressure.

At present I'm a bit skeptical. It's not exactly a secret many in the Democratic party have an axe to grind with Rahm Emanuel, and I think he probably enjoys "sparring" with the Republicans.

i heard or read somewhere that he only planned to serve 18 months going in but i honestly couldn't point out where i got this info so it may be erroneous and chiefs of staff often don't serve the entire term with a president so i suppose this issue leaves me indifferent

The White House is bashing a British report that President Obama's chief of staff plans to step down.

"This is B.S.," the sharp-tongued Rahm Emanuel said in a statement, according to Politics Daily.

In an e-mail to CBS News, he was equally as blunt: "As I would say this is bs or as the english like to say baseless."
