The*FBI*is taking over as lead investigator in the deadly crash of a small plane carrying a flight instructor and a student pilot because of indications that it might have been a criminal act, safety officials said Wednesday.

The FBI is involved because terrorism may be a motive given the nationality of the student pilot and the proximity to Pratt & Whitney, a defense contractor that does jet engines for the U.S. military.

The survivor is saying it was no accident.
