If he had actually stayed CONSERVATIVE, I would have been much happier, but as an example, 700 billion dollar buyouts and 600 dollar tax rebate checks that are nothing more than printing extra money are nothing more than liberal, socialistic concepts.

Working on the economy would be nice. Shifting our military's focus to finding and either killing or apprehending (preferably apprehending. Killing Osama bin Laden outright will only stoke the flames for all those terrorists) Osama bin Laden. Working on reducing our country's dependence, not just on foreign oil, but on OIL, period. My brother, whom you do not know, is a conservative. He has been married to his wife for years, has a son, another on the way, pays his taxes, works hard at his job, is an avid baseball fan, and is one of the funniest people I have ever met.

He is kind to strangers, and I have seen him on more than one occasion give to homeless people on the street as well as donate to animal charities; the first thing he does when he comes home is to say hi to the dogs who run to greet him, and then he holds his son up high, giving him hugs and kisses.

I expect him to be polite. He will let GWB get out of the White House (with a kick in the butt if possible) before installing himself and his administration confortably for the next 8 years.

As unhappy as I am with him as president, my choices are

3. Work with Congress to begin "Green Agenda"--wind, solar, movement away from "Oil," etc.

&

5. Address education system--he has mentioned several ways to do this--JobCorps/college education, "fix" No Child Left Behind, increase teacher pay for increase teacher performance accountability...sort of broadbased initiatives which do need "meat" on the bone in the form of money, either Bush Tax Cut repeal or maybe cutting the Defense Dept Budget (which he has not said he'd do but which is a viable option instead of tax increase).

Maybe they could study the feasibility of T. Boone Pickens' plan. About education, I think that just about anything they do will be better than what's in place now.

Not trying to start a fight but how can you expect to have an open and honest discussion if you are completely excluding somewhere between 1/3-1/2 of the country who are more conservative?

I make the assumption that the 1/3-1/2 Conservatives are willing to save the United States from the destructive path it's currently on. The Dems were successful in winning control of Gov't because of W.'s incredibly massive systemic-wide failure on several issues--getting Osama, Katrina response, Iraq "WMD" charade, creating jobs, steering the nation into Great Depression II, etc. The list goes on.

Some Dems and Liberals believe the Republican Party is the party of the Aristocracy and all of the current "problems" are not problems at all. They can pay $4/gal at the pump. They can send children to private school. They have healthcare and the means to leave the U.S. for treatments which are not approved here. They have their mansions and stock portfolios (sure the value has plunged but they have the patience to wait for values to rise again).

In sum, I don't believe the Republican Party wants to ruin the United States Gov't. Some Republicans would like no Gov't period. These are the lunatic anti-american, racist republicans. They will either crawl out from under their rocks to take control of the Republican Party or they will creep further into the "dark" and plot mischief.

So, getting back to this thread, a genuine, NORMAL, Republican voter can contribute to this poll sensibly.

I should've added another choice for Obama --Create another Stimulus Package--but he's pretty much going to do that first anyway.

The issues I brought up are some broader ideas. Some will get shelved until later. Some will get handled sooner.

I think given the continued collapse of the U.S. economy, Obama should pull all troops out of Iraq in a much more aggressive timeframe than even he campaigned on. How come we can move an Army into a country in the matter of a weeks but we need years to bring them home? Huh? That doesn't make sense.
