I've always loved Bernie! I almost thought I was listening to myself talk during most of that speech, as I have been saying the exact same things recently. Figures that Bernie, the only socialist (though he listed formally as Independent....he identifies himself as a democratic socialist) in the U.S. Senate is the only one making sense, and the only one who is not afraid to tell it like it is. Sadly, most politicians won't tell you how they REALLY feel, and how it REALLY is unless they are: 1. retiring (not running for re-election), or 2. have already left office. In the meantime, it's all about doing and saying whatever it takes to get re-elected (though President Obama has me stumped with his attempt to pander to those who will NEVER vote for him, while alienating his base). It makes me laugh when people whine about the Estate Tax (death tax for those who are champions of rhetoric) and they don't even know it only applied to people with estates of $1 million ($5 million if the Obama-GOP pact is passed). As much as I would love to, I sincerely doubt that I will be leaving a million dollar estate (much less a five million dollar one), and I doubt very many people who get upset about it will be either.
That's why I have always said......if ignorance were bliss, the United States would be the happiest place on Earth!

I would write my opinions on the subjects Bernie tackled, but he LITERALLY said exactly what I would have typed.....so I'll save this thread a few pages (It's that damn Penn State education again.....though Twitter is training me to say more in less)!
As you can tell, I'm very political myself, and I love talking politics with people who have THEIR OWN opinions, and can back them up (and don't just regurgitate verbatim, things they hear, though they have no idea what they are saying....I'm sure you've seen the type). I can't stand hearing people who repeat so-called "talking points," but they can't answer the simple question: "What do you mean by that?"
You seem to be the type that has her own opinions, so keep the political banter coming! I for one will never complain!
