The one and only.
I cannot stand him. He's easily my least favorite actor in Hollywood.

It's amazing to me that he portrays the same goddamn character in every film.

I think he's a versatile and decent actor, although his good movie-terrible movie ratio is about 50/50. These days he'll do whatever movie is offered to him, and he's gotten lucky with some of them. I especially liked Face-off, Bad Lieutenant, and Raising Arizona though. I think this diagram hits the mark.

Just curious, did you see the original "Bad Lieutenant"?

Yeah. IMO they're completely different movies in terms of mood and setting. I'm not sure why they even called the recent one Bad Lieutenant. The one with Harvey Keitel is more depressing while thhe one with Cage is more of a dark comedy. It's not like it was similar in any way to the original except for the fact that the main character is a crooked drug addicted cop. Still hilarious though.

Thanks for the reply.
I have seen the original (hated it) and was curious if the newer one was any better.

He's been fortunate to have made a good acting career out of it despite the fact that he is related to one of the world's most famous directors, Francis Ford Coppola. Yes, he is talented enough to have did it on his own without any help from his uncle.

That being said, I did like him in "Moonstruck," "Raising Arizona," "Wild At Heart," "It Could Happen to You," "The Rock" "Face Off" "National Treasure I and II" and "Next." "Drive Angry" looks really good.

However, in other films, such as "Peggy Sue Got Married," "Leaving Las Vegas" "Honeymoon In Vegas" and "Con Air" not so good.

"Gone In Sixty Seconds," "8MM, "Snake Eyes," "Ghost Rider" and "Lord of War" were middle of the road. On the fence, not good nor bad.

I guess he pulls in $6-8 million a picture. :dunno: But businesswise, he isn't so swift. Didn't he sue his accountant/financial advisor because he thought he was embezzling from him. That case was thrown out of court. I believe he's filed for bankruptcy as well.

I don't know why I didn't mention Leaving Las Vegas before, but that was definitely one of his best films (and one of my favorites).

That said, I think he was liquored up during the entire film just like the character (ironically just like I believe Keitel was in BL).

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
I like Nicolas Cage, I wouldn't say he's a great actor but he decent enough, IMO he's been in some great films, I also think he's done / been in some bad films...

I guess when push comes to shove it all depends on the storyline and whether or not its a well written script etc... all good actors have been victimized by appearing in bad movies...
:2 cents:

He is a pretty decent actor. I think the big thing is that he farms himself out way too much. Sometimes he should sit down and think of the film he is doing before he does it. He has been in some fantastic films that show his acting skill. Unforunately the converse could be said and he skills to pay the bills could be questioned. I honestly don't mind him as an actor, though I do sometimes question his film choice.

He has done some great movies like "Raising Arizona" , "Wild at Heart" and "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Kick Ass", but has ton some utter crap like "Wicker Man" and "Ghost Rider".

He needs to regroup, but he can be a good actor!
