I havn't been on in a while but I just wanted to say ...HA!

I went 4/5 on my predictions.

I guessed Pittsburgh/Carolina from the east, Chicago/San jose from the west, and Pittsburgh to win the cup. San Jose was a major bust, but 80% ain't bad!

Also, has anyone mentioned the Heatley situation? He asked for a trade out of Ottawa. Being a huge Sens fan this came as a major shock to me. He seemed like a real stand-up guy who can score you 50 goals, but he's just a selfish player who wants to do what he wants to do. He used to be my favourite player too. Apparently our new coach is kind of a hard ass and told Heatley he can't skate and he didn't take too kindly to that.

Any deals you think could happen with this? Maybe trade him to Islanders for the 1st pick. Apparently LA, San Jose, and a few other teams are interested. Who wouldn't be.

Heatley got $10 million last season and he also has a 4 M bonus owed to him on July 1st, which makes it hard to trade for the draft pick (june 26 or something). So that means if he isn't traded before July 1st our owner would have spent $14 million for 1 season on a guy who only scored 39 goals.

Detroit CHOKED. They were up 2-0. All they had to do was win 2 of 5 games. 1971 was the last time a team up 2-0 didn't win the finals. Detroit blew it. No excuses.

BTW, I'll give Detroit fans credit for being good sports and staying for the Cup ceremony but it was totally classless of them to boo Bettman.

Saying Detroit choked takes away the credit Pittsburgh deserves.

Since when is losing by 1 goal, in the final game of the entire NHL season choking?

I'm still pissed too, but I don't believe there was any higher power at work here. Pittburgh played awesome. Calls were missed on both sides of the puck.

I was just accepting the fact that all of those favorable PENGUINS CALLS / NON-CALLS stretched this series to a game 7 where anything can happen and usually does, then that peckerwood says typical Detroit complaining about everything?? :wtf: that fuckin lit me dude. LET ME SAY PITTSBURGH PLAYED VERY WELL / AWESOME, they are a great team. my :hatsoff: to them, but if that HIGHER power didn't impose its will in this series how did get to game 7 with all those glaring favorable calls / NON calls that led DIRECTLY to PENS GOALS? like I said I counted 4, if those 4 calls / non-calls didn't sway the game, is their a game 7 to be played? :nono: I don't think so!

So I am saying along with being a great team with the added BUTTMAN advantage the PENS were able'd to a game 7 to win. their is NOTHING anybody can say to me that convinces me the PENS DIDN'T HAVE the BUTTMAN ADVANTAGE who as I say is the real MVP of the finals, without his hands on tampering I don't think there is a game 7 to begin with. :2 cents:

I AM IN NO WAY SAYING THE PENS ARE NOT A GREAT TEAM, NOR AM I SAYING THEY DIDN'T PLAY AWESOME IN 6 OF THOSE 7 GAMES, BUT THEY WERE CARRIED BY BUTTMAN, that's just my opinion, if the rest of the fuckin world can't see that, then I am such a homer that I can't watch a game without being bias, and that whole series the pens were carried / aided by cambell and BUTTMAN. :2 cents::thumbsup:

I agree completely with you here with regard to the player(s) or others who actually said something against Crosby for this. As for it being typical of Detroit, I don't agree with you there. However, anyone who follows hockey well enough knows that Crosby would never intentionally fail to shake hands with the other team after winning a playoff series. He in no way tried to pull a Martin Brodeur/Sean Avery thing (which was completely classless on both parts). He was celebrating and many Wings players were already leaving by the time he came around to shake hands. I saw him go down the line and heard him thank Mike Babcock when Babcock told him he played great and displayed great leadership. The player (I guess it was Kris Draper) who spoke out against him is the one who's displaying classlessness, that's for sure. He knows Crosby didn't try to slight anyone and wouldn't do that, so he's just being a shit-disturber by making those comments. Crosby is a class act. He whined and complained a bit in the media earlier on in his career, but he's well past that now, displaying true class and leadership both on and off the ice. Anyone who's still labelling him as a whiner and calling him Crysby is just holding on to the old Crosby and failing to realize or acknowledge his maturation as a person and a hockey player. He shouldn't be called that anymore, but what are you going to do? Some people are just haters.

I checked the tape ... he was WAY late getting to shake any hands (mostly Detroit coaches), and by that time most of the Wings players were headed off the ice. It's the Stanley Cup Final, and he's the captain ... there's no excuse for him not being FIRST in the handshake line, win or lose. Yes, that came from a Penguins fan. :2 cents:

im not saying the penguins didnt play great either but i am saying that the only game that they didnt get any favours was game 5. They played dirty , stick happy hockey and if franzen grabbed crosby and started punching him there would have been action taken by campbell and the nhl no doubt about it.

this series was about selling the nhl and kids everywhere think that this is how you play the game if you are a star.( slashing players after the game, going after the other teams best and smaller player, whining to the media, questioning the refs after every call)
