Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Only 8 teams in NHL history have won the meaningless President's Cup and the precious Stanley Cup in the same season. Way more often than not, the President's Cup has proven to be a harbinger of bad luck in the playoffs than the opposite. Witness: Pens are now up on the Caps 3-1 and appear to be the odds-on favorite to not only win this series but to probably win the East as well from my perspective. Caps are in serious trouble heading to game 5.

LOL! The Stars have six men on the ice and they still manage to leave Tarasenko (the most dangerous sniper in the series (and perhaps the league)) wide open without a man within twenty strides for the goal. That is worse than the epitome of defensive ineptitude... to have too many men on the ice and still manage to leave Tarasenko wide open like that... what a bunch of clowns...

Wow! And just minutes later Lehtonen has to bail them out by stoning Stastny. The Stars are just terrible defensively...

LOL! And another breakaway for Tasarenko... and the Stars get bailed out by the post... what sport do these goofs think they're playing???

Finalists for the Jack Adams Award were just announced:

I cannot believe that Dave Hakstol of the Philadelphia Flyers wasn't nominated for this award. Barry Trotz and Gerard Gallant seem like obvious nominees, but how is Lindy Ruff more deserving than Hakstol?!?!?!?! That makes no sense! The Stars were 19th in the league in goals against! That's terrible! Not a single playoff team was worse than that. The Buffalo Sabres were better than that for crying out loud. And the coach of that team in a nominee? What?!?!?!? Ruff is a great coach, don't get me wrong, but you've gotta earn it. The results speak for themselves...

Terrible giveaway by Edmundson... I think Hitchcock really needs to limit his minutes and Carl Gunnarsson's as well...

We played a sloppy second as usual and let 'em back in the game. Anything can happen in OT and it didn't go our way this time. Amazing how close all the teams left in the West are and yet each one is built so differently. On to Dallas for game 5 on Saturday.

That Predators v. Sharks game last night was phenomenal. Best game I have seen yet in this post season, although admittedly I haven't been watching a ton of it. Fantastic classic though.

I didn't watch all of it but the highlights looked like a classic. Huge win for the Preds. No one talks about them but they are a really solid team with a penchant for coming back from deficits....a great trait to have in the playoffs.

I know they're down 3-1 in the game right now, but the way the Blues move and protect the puck is sublime... I hope they go all the way.

P.S. Even though they're down 3-1 right now, they're completely overwhelming the Stars in this game. If the score holds up, I like their chances in Game 7 in Dallas if they continue to play this way.

Jesus fucking Christ, a cardboard cutout of Luongo would probably stop more shots than either one of Dallas goalies. Maybe they'll give that a try in the 3rd period.

Thanks feller but the Blues are going to have to play much more consistently if they want to continue to advance. Everyone here is ripping Dallas but all they lack is a more dominant blueline and a first-rate goalie. I know....that sounds like a lot but they won a lot of games this year. They can be lethal up front but when they can't defend their own goal like last night, they can look pretty bad I agree. We crushed them like a beer can in their house....felt good! Long way to go.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
8 more. Tampa is solid, but Crosby is due to explode. Rooting for the 'Ning, but think the Pens will score too much. As I type that, all I can think of is how disruptive Hedman can be. I like the Blues in the West.

Pittsburgh is playing like a machine right now and, objectively, they appear to be the strongest of the 4 teams that are left. Murray has been incredible.....I really thought he would be their Achilles heel but so far he has been more like the rock of Gibraltar for them. Very impressive. No disrespect meant toward the Lightning at all but they will really have their work cut out for them against the Pens. Still, they could find a way to take the series somehow.

The Sharks will present a very serious challenge for the Blues....they have been an extremely tough matchup for us all year so I rate this series as being wide open. Whoever can dominate on the blueline and special teams will win. I'm hoping the Blues can bring Martin Jones back to earth but that's no guarantee by any stretch. He's been rock-solid for sure. Much like Murray for the Pens, I really never saw that coming. Should be a great battle. I just hate these late west coast starts....I'll be missing some work for sure because no way am I missing any of this action.  I'd rather lose my job than miss this!! (Wow....is that crazy or what?? LOL :1orglaugh:1orglaugh)

Ain't Stanley Cup hockey great? Glory or heartbreak, the emotions run extraordinarily high for these really great teams that are left in this incredibly extreme battle of attrition. These players are true warriors and I have nothing but admiration and respect for who they are and what they do. The Stanley Cup is by far the hardest championship to win in any sport in my opinion, bar none.

We're down to the cream of the crop all the way around. Obviously hoping it's the Blues but won't be shocked if any of the 4 teams left end up winning it all. They are all top-drawer teams so let's strap it on, rock and roll and see who's best! Gut-check time so....LET'S GO BLUES!!!
