And the Florida Panthers win in a shootout in Finland against the Blackhawks

Vokoun was something else in that game. What was it, 52 saves? If he can keep that up all year the Panthers might go far.

How are the Caps loaded? Ovechkin, Semin, Green, Backstrom, Knuble. They are gonna score some goals. goalie issues? sure, but you never know if this is Theodore's year to shine.

Caps will win their division, probably play in the conference finals. I consider that loaded

Beside Knuble that's the same team as last season and does OV know that they are on his team, he might try to pass to them.

Is somewhere outhere.
From a good time to face the defending champs,I think the Rangers
threw the chance away with those long range shots.

I mean you would think that somebody could stop a shot coming from
that distance.Or even better have somebody on the shooter.I think
the defense were too busy puck-watching.

Anyway Gaborik got his 1st goal and I'm sure he may get another 30+
season.

Bring on the Senators :thefinger

Going out and signing a bunch of "name" players doesn't always work. Ask the Rangers.

The big question after Day One...Will the Bruins win any games????? Damn, they looked flat. Caps were flying. that goal OV got cutting in front of Lucic was awesome. Now the Canes go to Boston, where they have a winning streak going.

I know.My beloved B's were a fucking joke good thing they make up 1/2 of my fantasy team and made me 0 points in the first game! Hey show up for the next game Offense!!!!!!!!!!

if you're a Canadiens fan, you won't like this:

MONTREAL - The Canadiens will be without the services of All-Star defenseman Andrei Markov for the next four months.

The veteran blue-liner left the Habs' first game of the season late in the contest against the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre.

He underwent surgery on Thursday night in Toronto to repair a lacerated tendon in his ankle. He was released from hospital this morning and will return to Montreal today.

In 2008-09, Markov enjoyed a career-year, posting 64 points before missing the last four games of the season plus the playoffs with a shoulder injury.

I watched the game against Toronto and I thought The habs looked pathetic , so now without Markov I think it's going to get worst in a hurry. I had them 8th in the east in my predictions but now I think it's going to be more like 11th or 12th.

for the first time in his tenure with us, Smitty looked shakey. 6 goals against on 18 shots.

i guess that can be expected after he hasn't played a full on NHL action game since January. hopefully that doesn't continue.

I see my beloved Leafs are in pretty much the same place as last season:crying:

Still chin up. Maybe we are just warming up:tongue:

^^i love the Leafs, though I wish I didn't. I want to watch them, but they make me sad.

This will be another year they don't make the playoffs. Sorry. :(

What is happening in Vancouver? Even if it is just the first two games of the season, I'm expecting a lot better from a Stanley Cup contender, as well as a contender for the #1 goalie for Team Canada. Letting in eight goals against the Flames and Avalanche is unacceptable.

Islanders played well in their game today. A shootout loss against the Stanley Cup champs is a decent way to start off the season. Today was also the deadline for the Lighthouse Project to be accepted, I think, and as far as I know it wasn't, so it looks line Wang is going to be entertaining offers to move the team. The only good thing is I don't like Ballsillie is going to try agian.

I hated seeing the knee injury Erik Cole suffered tonight. Looked like a clean hit but it looked like the knee was bad. I hope I am wrong. Not like I can count on SportsCenter to give me an update. Not when there is news that Brett Favre farted to report
