New York to Host 2014 Super Bowl

What's the big deal about a cold Super Bowl? I never knew the people in Green Bay and Minnesota had the biggest balls in America.

I've put a lot of thought into this, and I actually think it's a good idea. I can see the arguments on both sides which is why I think why not try it.

That's what they built the stadium for.

Re: New Jersey to Host 2014 Super Bowl

I fixed the title for you. The game will be played in New Jersey. From what I heard, the players will fly into Newark, stay in hotels in North Jersey and practice in the Giants/Jets facilities (also in NJ). The pre and post partites will undoubtedly be in New York but the Superbowl will be played in the Garden State.

I still don't get the big deal of holding the game in cold weather. Every November we play the Grey Gup in Canada and none of us bitch about it and want it to be in Vancouver every year.

So you all are just a bunch of pussies then?

(Except for the fine folks in Green Bay, of course)

This is a horrible idea. The Super Bowl is meant to be played in perfect conditions. It;s the one game that really matters.

It's not a question of being man enough to play in cold weather. The issue is that it affects the action of the game, regardless of how macho the players are. Footing, gripping the ball, passing accuracy, and kicking are all affected by adverse weather conditions like snow, rain, and wind.

Well, if everyone is worried about the game, I guess you all should start praying for a Denver/Green Bay final then. Games in cold weather can be just as entertaining as ones in warm weather. Ever see the Ice Bowl?

I think all the talk about the Superbowl in NJ is bullshit IMO. Teams play the game in cold weather, snow and rain all the time and fans will sit out there until the end of the 4th quarter. However because it's the Superbowl it all of sudden matters. The games to get to the playoffs don't matter? The playoff games to get to the Superbowl doesn't matter? Bullshit!

Your face is bull shit!

Football is meant to be played in cold, windy, rainy, and snowy conditions just as much as it's meant to be played on warm, sunny, and windless days. Teams are required to be able to play in all those conditions whether each individual team wants to maximize it or not. It's kind of stupid and goes against the integrity of the sport for the league to try and artificially constrain a game, any football game in fact, to eliminate those factors from it. It's even worse when it's just one game that has it done.

A well played 0-3 defensive contest can also be just as good of a game as a two sided shootout. Still, the chances of that happening in all but the most severe conditions are quite small.
