New Year's Resolutions: 2006

In the vein of the thread I made last year, here we go again for 2006.

Do you have any resolutions for 2006? Did you accomplish any of the ones you made for 2005?

Here we go...

[EDIT: The poll option timed out on me...I took too long to list the ten options]

1) Quit/moderate smoking

2) Quit/moderate drinking

3) Quit/moderate drug use

4) Find a new job/make a career change

5) Manage my finances better/more responsibly

6) Spend more time with family

7) Be more kind to and patient with others

8) Find love (or if in love, make a more serious commitment)

9) Do nice things for people/give to charities - "just because."

10) Other (please explain...)

Don't make them as I firmly believe that if you are going to do something. Then you don't need a special day to say that I'm going to do it.People either have the will power or they don't.I've heard the age old one many times over and over 'I'm going to stop smoking' and within a few hours or days they start again. This all comes down to willpower and if your just doing this because of the day in question then it will fail.

That’s an intelligent post Poggy.

I am not making any resolutions on the New Year for the reasons stated above. Whenever I feel I need to do something I just do it then. There is nothing to it but to do it. The only thing on Nightfly's list that I am trying to do is find a job and that is only because it is a situation that's mostly out of my control, not that I wasn’t trying hard before. Other than that I try to be as perfect a person as I can be.

I stop making them coz i always break them on Jan 2nd

It's good to be the king...
Only have one real resolution this year - number 4 on NF's list....

It's been fun taking a five-month break after being made redundant, but it's time to rejoin the world..........

Sarcasm aside, I agree with poggy & D-rock. If you're not going to stick to your resolution, there's no point in setting them.
Instead it's best to concentrate on an attainable goal and go for it.........

I quit smoking pot. Seriously this time. I stopped 6 weeks ago.
That's very good of you, Sweeper.

I have never made a revolution because I know what I would like to accomplish and if it does not pass, then I am not disappointed for "failing." If I accomplish something, then I feel good.
One thing I have become over the last several years is being more patient - with family, friends, co-workers, dumb drivers, and people at stores. For me, that was one aspect I used to really have a problem with.

I just don't make them, because we humans are creatures of habit, and sooner or later...

we just start smoking weed again.
we quit going to the gym
we start to eat like a starved billy goat after a while
we do all the things we said we'd stop doing, and don't do the things we plan to.

Me? I like me. I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing- but I'll try not to shoot anyone this year.

1) Quit/moderate smoking- did this one around june 05

2) Quit/moderate drinking-did this for six months, then fell off the horse, then another six months, then casually drank a few times since then. I think i'm going to go for good this year.

3) Quit/moderate drug use- stopped this one last year

4) Find a new job/make a career change- nope

5) Manage my finances better/more responsibly-nope

6) Spend more time with family- eh, my family kinda sucks.

7) Be more kind to and patient with others- yes

8) Find love (or if in love, make a more serious commitment)-yes

9) Do nice things for people/give to charities - "just because."-yes

10) I think my resolution this year is going to be to not pay rent

I'll try to eat better, i took almost 30 pounds in the last 2-3 years...

I rarely make them but last year I made one kinda like this one:
7) Be more kind to and patient with others

This year I've kept it true to myself. I find it a lot easier now to just step away from confrontations. I can step back a littler bit easier now and say "Ok, you won" and before walking away wish the person the best of luck in all of their future endeavors.
In the past I would have lived for the confrontation I sorta would thrive on it. I will make this same resolution in 2006.

I aim for 3 resolutions each year.

1. Be a good person.
2. Enjoy each day.
3. Take care of those I care about.

I pledge to give up porn for good...

......well, I lasted 17 seconds, that's 4 seconds better than last year.

I make small ones that I know I can do. Like donate a bit of money to some charity/church or help somebody. Basically everything I try to do during the year but still state I'm going to continue into the new year. But this year my resolution is to plan as much of my wedding as possible, w/o losing my mind. LOL
