New Reputation Poll: Reputation Altering Power

The last poll about reputation was about the question of, should we reset reputation entirely so everyone starts from the same number or should we leave it alone. The votes were pretty much 50/50.

Before I go on to explain the new poll...WE ARE NOT RESETTING REPUTATION. I just wanted to see what people thought about the idea and honestly, I got some pretty good feedback and comments from people. So thank you.

This poll is about adjusting rep altering power. In a nutshell version of how reputation works:

As of right now, for every 100 reputation you receive, you get 1 point added to your own reputation altering power (that's 1 point to the number you see on your posts).

If someone with 9 million reputation altering power reps someone, that person will get 90,000 points added to the number on their posts, under their name.

I'd say rep is just a little inflated...
What I plan on doing, instead of resetting rep entirely for everyone, is adjust the amount of rep you need to get that 1 point of reputation altering power.

So, here's my question to you lot. How much reputation should it take to earn 1 point of reputation altering power?

- 500 (8 million rep power turns into about 1.5 million)

- 1000 (8 million rep power turns into about 800k)

- 5000 (8 million rep turns into about 100.5k)

-10,000 (8 million rep turns into about 84k)

-15,000 (8 million rep turns into about 56k)

-20,000 (8 million rep turns into about 42k)

-25,000 (8 million rep turns into about 33.5k)

- Other number (please suggest in thread)

If the amount of reputation for 1 point of rep power changes, this WILL NOT erase any rep you have earned or comments from other members. It will only mean that it takes MORE reputation to earn 1 point of rep altering power instead of 1 person getting 80k rep each time a vetran member reps them.

10K rep for each rep power is probably about right.

However it is done, there should be a cap on the amount of rep power, so after you reach say 10K power, that is the limit of the rep given.

This will be done too. I'll probably do another poll with a suggested cap for rep power once the plugin is installed and I have a chance to mess with the settings.

I'd say 25,000. Honestly, collect as much rep as you'd like, but I just don't think we should have such a large impact on others rep.

Nah, that would lower the standards of what we consider to be a rep worthy post. Unless you still think we should be limited to a certain number of reps a day. I don't mean to give any of the members here hummers but some people post quite a lot of quality posts, and only one or two out of ten get rep. If rep power was significantly downsized then I am for that.
