Netflix

Just wondering is the service good and worth the price every month. I'm not too sure if this is true cause i don't have it but do they not have a lower resolution option for those with slow connections and/or on mobiles? Plus i hear you can't have the option to start from the beginning unless you manually force it to.

I hear series like orange is the new black is awesome to watch.

It's worth every nickel in my book. Plenty to choose from in all genres from movies to TV series to documentaries. Not sure what you mean by not being able to start from the beginning unless you "manually force it to" but everything is on demand so you can start anything wherever and whenever you want. Suggest using Roku or something similar to use on your TV. Orange is the New Black is great but so are plenty of other shows....highly recommend House of Cards.

I like it, my wife and I use it all the time. I'm not hip to House of Cards....which is funny, because I really like Kevin Spacey. But I really dig Lily Hammer, and Orange is the New Black. We use a Roku player, and also get other channels. My only complaint is, you can't stream some movies on a pay per view basis, you have to get the dvd in the mail. However, Amazon does that, so sometimes we get lucky.

Whats roku?

What i mean is say for example i watched 1st hr of a film but when i want to resume i want to go back 10 mins to recap, im told you can't skip back or start from begining. You have to let it finish.

I got slow connection so hoping for a low bandwidth option. Don't want to worry using a 1gb for each show i watched.

A friend who used to live in the country used Netflix on a 1.5Mbps connection, and it did work. I believe you can set quality of playback for video for slow connections, I know Netflix will automatically downgrade quality for slow connections it detects.

He was unable to watch HD streams, they just wouldn't work.

He moved four years ago, so I don't know if this is still accurate. Hopefully someone else has more recent info.

Roku is an awesome device with or without Netflix, but I wouldn't give up my Netflix subscription unless they drastically raised the monthly rates. You can check out Roku here- http://www.roku.com/ With a Roku you can start and stop wherever you want, I'm not familiar with other the way other devices interface.

For $9.95 it is not a bad deal. I watch mostly documentary type of stuff.

Down size is some classics like Jaws, Apocalypse Now and The Godfather are only available through the mail subscription.

Watch House of Cards though. Spacey is great when he is making comments to the viewers on what he is thinking.

I gave up on cable a long time ago and have been living off of netflix streaming for years.

After sometime, you will pretty much consume everything that's to your tastes and find out its kind of bland.

UNLESS you're the type that just loves everything. Its a movie, you'll watch it? Then you're golden. There is so much crap and filler on there you'll be busy for a long time.

But thats the problem, its filler. I refer to it as the $5 dvd bin at walmart ;)

But yeah, better than cable.

Throw in the physical dvd option and that widens your library since they don't have all of it online. But that doubles your cost.

I wouldn't bother watching tv on a mobile though. I run it through my wii.

Not true. You can skip ahead or go back. It's on demand.

I love Netflix. Parks and Rec, The Office, and House of Cards are worth it to me. I get most shows in 1080p super HD. There's never any lag or buffering. To me it's a great deal.

That's the only reason I've kept it, it has a lot of my fav tv shows that I watch.

I haven't ordered my Roku yet (waiting to see if they update it this year), but this is the semi-cord cutting option that I'm going with: Roku, Netflix and a digital outdoor antenna... might have to keep a VERY limited DirecTV or HD cable subscription to keep NBCSports (to get my F1 races live).

I don't watch much (non news) TV anymore. But I think Netflix and Roku is about as good as it gets... for those who don't enjoy being raped by cable/satellite companies.

We have an older, very bottom of the line model. It streams. I would like to get a higher end model, but right now, it's a very low priority, even if it is only a couple of hundred bucks.

It's only $9, it's more than worth it.
I never use cable or broadcast regular tv, so I just use Netflix, Hulu +, Vudu & CrunchyRoll.
I have them all on my PS4 but I also use some of them on my laptop or iPad.

If you're looking for something that has lower res streaming options for slow connections, Vudu offers that, but they price per movie or show or episode, they don't have a cheap subscription fee like Netflix.

I have just finished watching the second series of Orange is the New Black.

Awesome series and worth paying the subscription just for that. I would say that it is one of the best tv programs that I have ever seen.

You guys cant rewind or fast forward your netflix without this roku thing? Am I understanding this?

It works fine on my Smart TV's. LG, Samsung and Toshiba all have FF and RW.

When I stream on my computer I have no problem rewinding or fast forwarding, I use Roku to stream to my t.v. How do you stream content to your television?
