Reagan rule people. Please.
You still an racist
"AN RACIST?" Nice grammar. Calm down, Trayvon.
Sure George
Reagan rule people. Please.
As we remember with gratitude the life of Nelson Mandela, we should also pause to recall America's long-standing support for apartheid and the old South African regime.
That record of support was broken by President Jimmy Carter, who placed numerous sanctions on the regime. When Ronald Reagan came into power, he lifted those sanctions, arguing that such pressures would be counterproductive.
Bishop Desmond Tutu declared Reagan’s policy ”immoral, evil and totally un-Christian.”
As the regime became more outrageous in its behavior, knowing it had Reagan's support, the American people and even congress had soon had enough. In 1986 it ****** the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act, which Reagan promptly vetoed.
In a humiliating rebuff, congress over-rode Reagan's veto with hefty numbers of Republican votes--the first time in the twentieth century that a president had seen a foreign policy veto over-ridden.
The sanctions were enforced only partially by Reagan. George H. W. Bush committed to full implementation in 1989, earning him the anger of his party's right wing, however.
Interesting that you bring up Reagan...From someone I know:
Yeah, Reagan fucked up with that. The Reagan Rule was put in place on a legal forum that I was posting on when he died. the mods decided to give him respect during his funeral and recent passing because liberals were bashing him and they deemed it inappropriate. I thought Mandela deserves the same consideration. The Reagan rule was a bit of a inside joke and comment.
Considering all the health issues he had due to his imprisonment, kind of wonder how long he would have lived if not for that.
Before Mandela served as president, South Africa was under the control of White Supremacists. After Mandela left office, South Africa fell under the control of Black Supremacists.
