need help- video playing on computer

everytime i go to watch a video on a web page i get an outline of where the video should be and in the top left corner is a small square with a red, blue and green colors (i think that is the colors)and the video doesn't play.
WTF? how can i fix this?
this is the latest link that doesn't work but my friend sent me something that i wasn't able to watch on my Desktop Computer but it worked perfectly fine on my laptop.
any suggestions?

Probably missing Java or Flash player.

Google them and download the latest version and tell me the result.

By the way, can you watch Youtube clips?

EDIT: Could also be that your browser is blocking scripts, what browser are you using?

If it's a red square, a blue triangle, and a green circle, that's a Flash placeholder to tell you that your version is outdated. If you really want a way to play it, try VLC.

Try downloading Mozilla Firefox. In my eyes, I'm no pro or anything, it's much more compatible, and even has addons for many excellent media players (namely VLC and Quicktime.)

Assuming it's not a script problem with Java, and it's highly unlikely it's a hardware problem - it has to be a software problem. So it's either the media player or the browser.
