Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
I need help from any of my Freeone's brothers and sisters who are wise in the ways of HDTV....
I have qualified with a hotel rewards program to get an HDTV with my points. I have never owned one before but feel like it's time to take the plunge. Because of space limitations, the largest screen I can get is 37". As such, my choices are between the Sharp Aquos LC-37D43U and the Magnavox 37MF337B/37 (actually, the catalog says 37MF337 is the model number but this number does not match anything I can find on the web). The Sharp TV will cost me roughly 20% more points than the Magnavox will.
Which unit is the better choice? Is the Aquos really that much better than the Magnavox unit? I have read good and bad reviews on both units.
I currently have a conventional tube TV with regular DirecTV and a standard 5-disc DVD/Dolby PLII surround sound setup. Does this present any issues for which I should be aware?
