NBA '09/'10 Season Thread

So much for home court in this series!!!

I was shaking the entire 4th quarter. Wanted to throw up. Lakers prevail. 2 to go. 2 to go.

Celts can play some dumb BBall at times. Will Doc Rivers ever suggest to the Celt's big men to snatch the rebound and not play volleyball with it???

The Lakers have too much length for Garnett to be trying to play volleyball with himself for a rebound. He can get away with that against other teams.

Lakers out-hustled the Celts...and Ray Allen choked big time....blowing layups, committing a 2 on 1 charge...and to think, some idiots actually thought at one time he was a good straight up trade for Kobe.

Damn Lakers, I wanted to look smart, they just had to blow the majority of that lead and make it close, thus nullifying the blowout.

I got Boston in Game 4, pretty comfortably. Their final win of the year.

Derek Fisher :iloveyou:

The guy is such a gamer

He did a helluva job on soft ass Ray Allen too...I still can't believe this guy committed a charge in a 2 on 1 break...and couldn't hit the side of a barn.

I dont think Boston can or will take another game in LA so as long as the Lakers come to play they will be the 2009/2010 nba champs

It's so shit we can't get NBA games in the UK anymore thanks to ESPN taking the rights to the games over here. There is literally NO coverage of the NBA in this country anymore. Sad times.

Yea but streaming is shit from things like Justin TV and although I like basketball, I'm not paying to watch it through a computer. We used to get it on free to air TV and if not we got weekly or twice weekly shows. Suppose over here people just don't want it enough...

I'd hate to watch anything on the internet but don't they carry the playoffs in your local watering holes there?

Nope! Over here the pubs and bars focus mainly on Soccer, Boxing and Rugby which I don't have a problem with but with the time lag of games sometimes it would be quite late to show some games also. For example when we have things like WWE Raw Live on Monday nights it's actually 2am Tuesday which is around 7pm Monday in the US so many pubs are closed by then too.

Shame ESPN took the rights off Channel 5, which would be the equivalent of standard cable TV in the US.

I have to admit, that I have a full on man crush for D Fish. In the playoffs, I'll take Fisher over any point guard in the league, and I'm not exaggerating one bit. He's a true professional, and comes through in the clutch. As always, he doesn't really blow your socks off and score 50 points a night, but the points he does socre always come at crucial junctures, especially in the playoffs. I saw a stat last night that lists D Fish as having made the 3rd most 3-pointers in NBA Finals history, behind Horry and MJ, and ahead of Kobe and Michael Cooper. That's some serious company right there.

Lakers looked good last night, the refs tried to be as noticeable as possible, once again in game 3, but it was an exciting game with a great ending. 2 more games and the Lakers are back-to-back champs! Does anyone else think that replay is just screwing up basketball more than most other sports its used in? I understand the last second, toe on the line reviews, but if the ball goes off of a player who is clearly fouled by another player yet the ball still goes to the team who committed a retrospective foul, how is that improving the quality and integrity of the game? Flawed rule IMO. Anyhow, great to get the 1st game in TD Bank, that was huuuuge! Game 4 will be another battle. Lakers in 7!

yes.
I hope when the time comes that he really is too old to compete (unless he retires first) that instead of dogging him people will remember him for all he's done for the Laker franchise. He's never going to have his number hanging from the rafters but he'll definitely deserve some sort of special recognition.

Yeah very good point, if I was the league I'd have been severely embarrassed about the glaring rules flaw that replay illustrated. There's absolutely no justification for rewarding the team that commits a foul. That's completely nonsensical.

Absolutely. He's been influential in every championship the Lakers have won while he has been on the team. Pretty much every clutch opportunity he has, he comes thorough with flying colors. There's even a rule named after him that was implemented after, argubly, his most clutch playoff performace ever when he hit the 0.4 shot to beat the Spurs in 2004. The Derek Fisher rule. I remember that game vividly, what a finish, but I digress.

I think what probably happened on that play with Odom and Rondo, was that the official saw exactly what happened, but instead of calling the foul on Rondo, he just decided to award the Lakers the ball, which seems, to my mind, a fair trade-off. Just a heads up move by Doc Rivers to get them to review the play, as he more than likely knew that they weren't going to be able to review the foul and can only make judgements as they relate to posession. Still a lame rule. Either get rid of it, or change it so the refs can call a foul on an offending player during a review. That would make teams really think twice before asking for a review.

Same situation here with La Liga soccer, ESPN took half the rights, and half the time don't show the broadcasts on TV (almost always involving Real Madrid or Barcelona), instead confining it to the internet on ESPN360 or on ESPN Deportes, which I don't have.

Does anybody here think the league should look at changing the foul rules? Stan Van Gundy wants a no foul out rule. I don't think that solves anything, but I see his point. People want to see the stars play. However, no foul out would just make games longer, with more fouls called and decrease the flow of the game even more.

If they were to make a no foul out rule, they should make it so that the team fouled shoots 2 and gets ball back.

They have to do something. Even in Laker victory I get frustrated watching the game as a basketball fan. These are grown men. Let them play. Don't be calling the ticky tack shit.

The Laker's fourth quarter issues continue.
Even when they hold on to win they consistently get beat in the last quarter :dunno:

They made Glen "The Drooler" Davis look like Bill Russell tonight :anonymous

If they lose this series this will probably be the game they'll kick themselves for wasting.

edit: don't like the idea of a no-foul-out-rule

Davis looks like a retard. Garnett should lay off the Red Bull. Wallace just got problems.

I would have loved to see Odom swat Robinson's tiny little ass.
lol. He tried to get in Odoms face and his face was at his waist.
