National Geographic's "Doomsday Preppers"

Anybody seen this show?

I just caught my first episode, and laughed out loud at the guy who blew off his own thumb.

He gives a little speech on how he believes that every home in America should own a gun and lots of ammo..."the more guns and ammo the better", he say's. It's about 30 seconds after his speech when he accidentally blows off his own thumb...hillarious.

He's lucky he only lost his thumb and not one of his 2 kids that were with him.

Handguns and assault weapons should be banned. When will these idiots ever learn?

I saw a preview for it and I don't know whats more disturbing, the fact that there are people who live in that much fear or that someone put that shit on tv.

For the EMPEROR!!
Yeah, I watched a part of one episode. This one guy had his property/compond/bomb-shelter all rigged out with sensors and trip-wires and stuff.

They're very 'hard-core'... Or :tinhat: depending on your point of view.

does this include knives, rocks and big strong men trained in hand to hand combat? there's no reason to ban things that already exist in abundance because that won't make them go away, people can effectively hurt or kill themselves with anything almost as easily as they can hurt or kill others with anything...inanimate objects are only as dangerous as the people handling them, put a gun in the hand of a stable-minded, experienced and trained person it's as unlikely to cause collateral damage as it would be locked up in a safe so basically what i'm saying is keep guns away from inept imbeciles... :D

This is TV. People watch TV for the train wrecks that are showcased on it every day! I mean look how many idiots TruTV shows nowadays with those damn idiotic celebrity commentators/world's dumbest shows. So someone blows their thumb off on TV is because producers know that people will watch it just to watch some dumbass act a fool.

It all started with Cops. :(

i'm glad i don't watch TV...

I do not watch reality shows or clip shows. Minus The Soup. I like how it is sardonic towards it all and shows just how insipid a lot of these shows are.

I watch sitcoms and FX shows. Or movies on channels.

Unfortunately, those "inept imbeciles" are another thing that "exist in abundance", and if one of them kills someone you care about with a gun, you'll probably change your tune.

I don't have the exact numbers on gun related deaths vs rock related deaths, but I'm guessing gun related deaths are more common.

You wanna what is actually the most dangerous easily-preventable killer in society?
Take a look at deaths related to automobiles.

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
I've been watching it. Those people are freaks! I mean, I have decent earthquake supplies, based on what I saw happen after Katrina, but watching these people doesn't make me feel odd at all. They're obese, almost all of them. How do they expect to accomplish anything after the fact.

Then there's the supreme idiot who blew his thumb off practicing with his rifles. He explained it that his thumb got in front of the muzzle while his finger was on the trigger, yet the idiot pulled the trigger. I thought about that for awhile, how do you even fucking do that and why would you??

That show is a train wreck. But it's more entertaining than Jersey Shore. Of course, watching my shit down the toilet is more entertaining than Jersey Shore.

I watch 1,000 Ways to Die quite a bit. I find that it isn't so much the inanimate object that is killing/hurting people as it is simple ignorance of a human that is doing it. And there are many, many ignorant people out there with a lot of objects that can harm or kill someone if that poor individual should come their way at the wrong time and wrong place.

How many times I almost been hit in a parking lot because someone isn't watching whilst they back out because they are driving like they are in the Indy 500. Should we ban all vehicles?

no, i won't and you're missing my point, which is that people who suck at life will find a way to hurt or kill themselves as well as anyone who stands close enough to them. this has nothing to do with the tools they use. if one of them kills someone i care about i will be angry at them personally, what they used to do it will be inconsequential to me. same goes for homicidal maniacs, rapists etc. they're going to do what they're going to do, that's why i will be keeping my guns and encouraging the people i care about to stay armed and practiced as well. i'm not saying everybody needs to think like me because that's a ridiculous thing to say and i'm not saying everybody should be armed because, as we discussed, not all people can be trusted with firearms. there's too many problems for there to be any right answers, the best anyone can hope to do is in a small circle. you, your family and any close friends you have. watch out for them and let the world do what it will because 99.9% are in no position to affect the sway of things in the slightest. :2 cents:

 thanks for reminding me that they have a show...i'd almost successfully blocked that out of my mind
