NAACP wants NY Post editor and cartoonist fired

What the?? Seriously on all sides someone is stupid, the cartoonist for drawing it, the editor for approving it, the NAACP for complaining and making such a fuss over a cartoon...everyone in this is utterly stupid. In the end, it's just a fucking cartoon, who really gives a ****? Does it really matter? Of all the things in the world, you're really going to get butthurt over a cartoon??

Look if you're offended by it, fine, be offended, but goddamn, just go "That was fucking messed up!" and then move on. Why push the issue? Calling for his job just because of some sorely misplaced ink? C'mon...

Those 'scabs that get picked at' are still 'scabs' because no one will ever let them heal. People let them get picked at everytime something the least bit offensive comes up, everyone is in such a hurry to cry "RACISM!!!!" Sure, people need to watch what they say for fear that they may offend someone, but on the flip side, when someone does do or say something offensive, you need to just move on. Why get so worked up over something that was said or done in ignorance? What does that do? It just furthers the hurt or 'picking of the scab.' The writer was absolutely stupid for this cartoon, but why bring more attention to it by pushing the issue? Just leave it be, move on. WTF?? On all sides, WTF?!

its a racist cartoon, they are referring to blacks as monkeys, and calling for unjust ******** to innocent blacks.

...he writes feverishly, as the voices in his head get louder and louder.
"Cill my landlord, cill my landlord!"
I mean, really... are you wearing some "Black People only" 3-D glasses, to enable you to see the large letters spelled out across the cartoon: "Blacks are Monkeys! Do unjust ******** to innocent Blacks!":rofl2:

I mean...that's the most paranoid racist BS anyone has posted yet.
Are you channeling the esteemed Rev. Wright?

I don't know whether the guy was trying to be racist, but you gotta believe that he could not be so naive as to really think that people wouldn't take it that way. sure it's reactionary on their part, but I think it's also baiting on his part.

who was the guy that said all of them are idiots? that was so right.

Murdoch sorry for NY Post cartoon seen as racist.

New York Post Chairman Rupert Murdoch apologized Tuesday for a cartoon that critics said likened a violent chimpanzee shot dead by police to President Barack Obama.

In a statement published in the newspaper, Murdoch said he wanted to "personally apologize to any reader who felt offended, and even insulted." He said the Post will work to be more sensitive.

Murdoch said the cartoon was intended only to "mock a badly written piece of legislation."

This shows that the public pressure by people like the NAACP,Sharpton and others utilizing their free speech rights is effective and Murdoch felt it.Without that pressure I do not think any apology and commitment to being more sensitive in the future would have come from Murdoch.Personally I think just an apology is not nearly enough as they knew exactly what they were doing when they printed this and some heads should roll to show that the people who thought such types of rhetoric was appropriate are no longer making such decisions. If not all decent people should refrain from purchasing the NY Post.
All these posts saying just ignore such things or that protesting them is actually just promoting them shows a real lack of undertanding or an agenda of condoning the racist message itself.

And on a side note Murdoch had better be carefull. He was granted a waiver by the Bush administration that allows him to own both a major paper(the post) and TV station (Fox) based in NY.I would think the Obama administration might want to review that waiver.Murdoch owns and dominates too much of the media and never should have been granted any waiver and should be ****** to sell one of the entites.

Now ask yourself, if you laugh at this (and I know I did), would you laugh it they substitute chimp bush with Obongo in the illustration? It's a double standard in America and it's getting tired. People are sick and tired of the PC bullshit. :thefinger
I just think there is a sick and unwritten rule that minorities have a (racist) card they are free to pull whenever they choose. It's sick and it's not fair. Until it changes caucasions will never stop this subtle or even overt forms of racism.

I like Obama, don't like the cartoon, but........it needs to be where it is and why fire the cartoonist? If so it's just as stupid as the Muslims that went crazy over the Muhammad drawings. I don't think anyone who is black is gonna go after the guy's *****, but come on, I thought we were better?!?!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

So the NAACP and those who agree with them should also back the death threats against the Danish cartoonist and Salmon Rusdhi. Same thing man... either you believe in freedom of speech or you don't. Apparently there are a lot of people here who don't. Offensive speech is tolerated but should not be condoned, nor "******" in a free society. We are not the Taliban people!

Free speech is more than a one way street.People need to understand that the protection from free speech being curtailed is about the govt trying to curtail or limit speech, not public pressure or counter free speech that tries to counter the racist speech. No one from the NAACP or Sharpton or anyone else said anything about ******** against the post or the cartoonist. All they did was exercise their free speech rights to say the cartoon was racist and inappropraite and that they hoped the public would make the post and its owners feel the pressure of a public outcry against the cartoon. That is the publics right. If the post felt it was a good buisnnes decision to defend the cartoon they would, they obviously felt the pressure and see it isn't good buisness to be seen as racist. The post can print anything they want ,that is their right. But don't say its not the NAACP's right also to say the post should suffer for doing so or you would be trying to say the NAACP does not have a right to "free speech".

I don't get where they were trying to go with this.
Surely they had to know when they were making it how it would be viewed.

You can't always anticipate how extreme and how far the lunatic fringe will go...it was a classic political cartoon...and I got it right away.
Only a racist-thinking moron would read a racist message into an obvious political statement...but there you are.
Those of you who see monkeys representing Black people share a POV with the KKK and Rev. Al...not anyone in the mainstream. Which is why the Post ran a good timely editorial cartoon. Who knew Rev. Al needed a paycheck?
And it goes on and on...race is a big theme of the O-Zombies, and they never let it go.
