My new goal for Zelda: ocarina of time

Already this is turning into a huge bitch. This game is the bane of my existence.

I'm pretty sure you can finish the game in 8 hours, but probably not while getting all items (including heart pieces). :dunno:

If you want a real challenge, finish the whole game with only your original 3 hearts (ie- never pick up a heart piece in the whole game)

Hehe fun challenge. Would probably do something similar, but I'm already at Shadow Temple, and since I've cleared the game many times I thought this time I would do it casually and just enjoy the beautiful setting.

But how exactly are you planning on doing the game without the tunics and boots?


On a side-note, today I got my last few heart pieces in Majora's Mask (which regardless of what anyone says I think is better than OOT), thus completing the game 100%. Next time i'm playing it through I'm thinking of trying to clear the game with as few Song of Time-rewinds as possible. Can probably limit it to around 4-5 with some effort.

Anyway, glad to see some more Zelda fans here! The N64 games are the two best as well.

As far as I know they aren't used for anything, they just have a flashy blue animation and then stun an enemy like if you used the boomerang, but maybe for longer. Same thing with the fire arrows, they aren't necessary. The only one's you need are the light arrows because they are the only thing that hurts Gannon at the end of the game.

But how exactly are you planning on doing the game without the tunics and boots?

Inside the fire temple there are only certain rooms that are heated, not all of them, so if you are quick you can get through without dying and then just collect hearts. But you can't do it without the fire tunic if you only have 3 heart slots; I'm not sure what the minimum amount is, but since I'll be getting the heart upgrades along the way it won't be a problem. The only tricky part is beating the boss, and if you have a couple bottled fairies, it should give you enough extra time/life to do it.

Same with the water temple, only a few parts require you to actually be underwater for very long. There are also many parts that you can skip, I know that you can do it with at least one extra key left over and possibly up to 3.

You only need the hover boots to jump across the gap in the front of the Shadow temple. You can overcome this with a megaflip- cast Nayru's love (protection spell) then set a bomb in front of you and when it explodes do a backflip and you'll be launched back a considerable distance, enough to clear the gap in this case.

The iron boots are for getting to the bottom of the water temple to lower the water level. For that part just stand along the edge of the ledge and let an enemy hit you. As soon as that happens you'll start to get knocked off and at that point cast a spell (either din's fire of farore's wind). The game can only load one animation sequence at a time, so it will load the spell animation instead of the swimming animation and act like you are in air instead of water and drop you down all the way to the bottom. At that point you can just easily swim across to where you need to go.

these little tricks might seem pretty ridiculous, but they are easily with a little practice and more than make up for the time it saves you in otherwise getting those items.

And if I recall, when fire hits you in Fire Temple and Death Mountain Crater you don't lose hearts one by one - you burn and die instantly as soon as the timer expires.

yeah i think your right about the timer,i really need to play this again easily one of the best games ever made.
