My Gmail keeps getting hacked

Hehe, I think that might well be overkill HM.

First phisher/hacker was like October of last year. 2nd attempt was there in May. First one I can kinda understand, was probably posting my email addy in questionable places and didn't use the best pass for the account.
Believe you me, I've scanners up the wazoo and have scanned to the point of paranoia. Everything comes up clean. ;)

Depends...if someone suspects their password(s) continues to be compromised even after scanning, changing, etc....they should assume (I would) their computer is infected with an undetectable rootkit...which is likely recording and recovering everything they're doing on their machine.

Not sure what you mean by scans coming up clean but unless you're using something like radixgui or XuTre in safemode you are simply not going to detect some of the more creative rootkit infections. Even upon detecting some of this **** with those tools it is still hard to remove them.

In that case...the smart move is to slam your system and start over depending on how much you value your privacy.

Or get another clean machine and don't infect it...and use the infected one to type about porn babes on FOs and that's it...:dunno:

Cheers guys. Though HM, i don't think I am that far gone. If so, I reckon they would have hacked other accounts I have. I think I got phished and changed the password very poorly. This password is longer, completely different and something even I could forget. Lots of numbers and lots of letters. We'll see what happens from here. The idea of forwarding the mail is a good, one though one I cannot be bothered really doing at the moment. If worse comes to worse I will, but I hope it won't come to that. In fact, I doubt it will. I have totally purged my account as well. All emails have been deleted accept a select few which are just a few nothing ones that don't matter if people see. Time will tell on this one.

This just means you do not need to have one.

No one should use Gmail. :nono:

I see all the rock stars are out and about today.:tinhat:

Daring to post on topic: your issues with Gmail are undoubtedly a result of something you have allowed (unwittingly, probably, but still ...) into your system. I've been using Gmail almost since the day it was launched and I have never, ever had a problem with it, both in terms of functionality and security.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone else is enjoying this like me. It had gotten so bad my account actually got suspended due to suspect activity. I think maybe spamming. Before that I had my account hacked and even after reactivation of my account it has happened. I think they a trawling for credit card details and such. Anyone getting this at the moment? Just got me a little worried that is all. Nothing I can do to help it, hacking is a way of life. Just want to reassure myself I am not alone. Filthy hackers, I don't have any money to steal in the first place.

Call in Weiner. :) ;)

Well so far so good. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened. I have another account that hasn't been hacked so I don't know what is going on. That account I have had for nearly twice as long as this one. I am not too stressed. It is not a totally important account, but it is still annoying. Don't like people to be doing the dodgy on me.

Do you use gmail on any mobile devices, specifically Android?

My Gmail account was sending out spam to my contact list unknowingly until I received a few bouncebacks.

Turned out that there was a dodgy app on my phone which managed to pull out my password. Removed app (by process of elimination) and changed password - no more problems.

Also might help to login to gmail, scroll to the bottom where it says "Last account activity: X hours ago on this computer. Details"

Click details and it will show you the last 10 logins and the IP address/country.

More gmail fun.
Someone has now used my email addy to create a profile/account on the playstation network. ;)

I'm such an idiot, I don't even understand how hacking works. How the hell can somebody possibly just correctly guess your password? There's something I'm missing here...

They don't just guess it. There are many means by which they can crack it or just trick you into loading malware on your machine which reveals to them the plain text of all of your log in credentials. Or worse case, trick you into giving them access to you machine and then they install a complete OS on your machine which gives them unfettered access/control over everything you do on that particular computer....so you changing your password (on that machine) would be useless.

You'd be surprise how far some of these asshats can get with just your email address.:2 cents:

Yeah you also need to change your social security number too, they won't let me take out that small business loan, because you have one number too many.
