It took me a bit of thought.... for most of my time using tapes, it was copies of other people's music or music borrowed from the library (honestly), or mix tapes / copies of LPs that daddy made for me. I only had a brief amount of time buying genuine tape albums before my folks bought me a CD player, although I still bought some albums on tape for use in the Walkman at college until I FINALLY upgraded my portable music to a Discman.
But I'd probably say.....
My taste in music when I was buying cassettes was average to pretty ordinary.....various artists or Aussie rock or gasp....
Bon Jovi
Bingo. I had most of their stuff copied but I reckon there is a good chance one of their tapes was my first "official" tape purchase. In fact I have a weird feeling I might have picked up the then-new "These Days" even before I bought "Cross Road" since I already had a copy of their biggest hits on various tapes as well as my favourite album tracks from "Slippery When Wet", "New Jersey" and "Keep The Faith."
Fairly sure my
last tape was Bon Jovi too as my best mate bought me "Crush" as an 18th birthday present on tape.
Whitesnake - Self Titled from 1987 and Def Leppard - Hysteria were the first two Cassette Tapes I bought with my own money in the spring of 1989.
Awesome.
(Ninja Turtles soundtrack)
Awesome.
I used to always buy the album and then copy it to tape but I think the first cassette I bought was probably the first ASIA.
Awesome.
Actually..... there is a chance it was the Mario Brothers soundtrack. I loved Roxette, for my sins.
