I listen mostly hip-hop (french, us & uk..) then comes scratch, jazz, blues, electro, rock, metal, trip-hop, reggae,...
but I never listen pop music, house & techno & most of the radio bullshit :thefinger

om3ga

It's good to be the king...
I voted Hip-hop - but I mainly listen to music I consider decent nowadays (this includes R&B/soul, Jazz, Jazz-Funk, Reggae, Soca & old-school Hip-Hop/Rap).

[edit] modern pop & gansta rap definite turn-offs......

Patrick_S

persona non grata
I mostly listen to Rock n´ roll, Punkrock, Metal & Country but sometimes i listen to classical & pop. If i should pick one favourite genre it would be high energy rock n´ roll (AC/DC, Motörhead, MC5, The Stooges).

Why didn't you make the poll so people could vote for more than one option? That's possible...

I'd say techno/electronica, then "alternative" pop/rock, then pop, then rock, then R&B/soul, then reggae....lol These types of polls are too difficult!

Metal, mostly Symphonic/Gothic Metal : Therion, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Theatre Of Tragedy...

Perhaps I'm a bit out of touch, but what the heck are "idm, ebm, emo, and jrock?" :dunno:

i listen to music... that includes indie whatever, electronica, idm, ebm, emo, rap (common, sage francis, outkast), jrock, industrial, folk rock, alternative rock..and so on so forth

idm-intelligent dance music... basically dance music that you can't dance to
ebm-electronic body music... sort of like industrial... but not quite
emo - used to be emocore... hardcore music with normal vocals and quite bits in songs, now they use emo for every rock band... just like they did 10 years ago with grunge
jrock... well that simple...japanese rock

Christ...can people be any MORE specific? Like "twgata?" "Techno while gazing at the aquarium." lmao Labels labels labels. It's getting too complex... :D :1orglaugh

lmao NF...u took the words right out of my mouth...

maybe i'm an old-fashioned kinda guy but i'll take the simple stuff like jazz, r&b, classic rock, classical, reggae, house (i AM from chicago), some (very little) pop, and a lil blues when i'm down to my "last two dollars."

btw, i'm still miffed at the goof who started this thread and omitted all the genres that i like, but i decided to weigh in anyway since om3ga and nightfly did. if you're gonna have a poll such as this u really should think in broader terms. it's like asking what kinda books u read and having the only selections as "crime" and "self-help".

Well, for example, it used to be you could say techno and that would include the sub-genres like trance, happy hardcore, rave, etc. You didn't have to specify unless someone really asked you. Now people are getting into "intelligent dance music" etc. It's asinine. Having worked at a few record stores in high school and as summer jobs during university, I cannot even FATHOM how CDs are even FILED in a store using such specific labels. Good God. lol

Now I'll get back to my "MRWWSOTCODTC." "modern rock written whilst sitting overlooking the cliffs of Dover towards Calais" music. :rofl2: ;) :D

i agree. too many genres that's why i sad...'i listen to music' ... but specific genres is hardly something that's confined to the new music and 'all these crazy kid today'...let's take something old fashioned as blues...you have
African blues
British blues
Chicago blues
Detroit blues
Kansas City blues
Louisiana blues
Memphis blues
Piedmont blues
St. Louis blues
Swamp blues
Texas blues
West Coast blues
