What is the standard punishment in California for a 1st DUI? He'll probably lose his license for a few months, pay a fine, and get some education based on a Google search.

The poor bastard. Those $7000 fines can really screw up your plans for dinner. They're hell on you when you only have a FUCKING $!00 MILLION DOLLAR NET WORTH. Now what? They might have to eat at a Denny's, like us regular folks. But the worst part is those 5 days of prison. I know he's already served 2, and they'll knock something off for good behavior, but still, how will he last in the yard? On top of that, he still has to look forwards to a whole 3 years of probation. Good thing they dropped that charge, otherwise he may have lost $8000, and 6 days, plus 4 years probation. Good thing he's a tough guy.

Instead of a couple token days in the county lockup, a fine based on net worth would be appropriate. That would probably be more of a deterrent than the trivial fine and increased auto insurance premiums.
