I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
I still haven't seen The Hurt Locker, and I hope that does well.

PlasmaTwa2

The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
I'm glad District 9 got a nomination, though it got snubbed in Best Actor and Best Director...

Out of those listed these are the ones I've seen:

- Avatar
- District 9
- The Hurt Locker
- Inglourious Basterds
- Up

District 9 is my choice. With The Hurt Locker a very close second.

I don't really care if "The Acadamy" see it that way, because the Oscars are for the most part complete bullshit.

Although to me District 9 wasn't the best movie of '09, it's just the best movie on that list. The honour of best film of '09 goes to Moon.

Of course this's just my opinion. But as I am God, it means a whole lot more than yours.

Avatar, hands down. that 3D version is fucking tight. it brought a whole level in film making, and for that it will win best picture.
James Cameron wins best director, beating his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow out of both nominations.
BTW I did like the Hurt Locker.

Avatar, not just b/c it was very good movie, but also the timing. It was released at the perfect moment for the Academy's.

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
I would say District 9 or Inglorious Basterds. That being said, I was surprised at The Blind Side. It actually brought tears to my eyes a couple of times. If Avatar wins I'm going to punch orphans in the face.

Knowing the Academy, I say its between Avatar and Precious

Yup.

The best movie of the year is Up in the Air. Vera Farmiga should walk away with the Best Supporting Actress award...

Inglorious Basterds was good but it's one of those movies I like to watch when I'm drinking with some friends and there's nothing else to do or if I'm bored. Up was also good especially at the beginning. District 9 was yet another good movie but I think it was more of an action movie and just satisfying at doing that. Avatar gets my vote because it executed its story so well (albeit the whole story was borrowed from several movies) but as I said it took all the good parts and melded them together awesomely

Inglourious Basterds is one of the best WWII films I've seen. Was expecting a lot and it delivered. Voted for this.

Avatar was another big budget all show no go film to me. The plot dragged but it was visually amazing.

The Blind Side was a good movie as well.

Overall I thought this was a bad year for movies.
