Most-Watched Super Bowl

Giants-Patriots Most-Watched Super Bowl.

The New York Giants' thrilling win over the New England Patriots was the most-watched Super Bowl ever, with 97.5 million viewers, Nielsen Media Research said Monday.
The game eclipsed the previous Super Bowl record of 94.08 million, set when Dallas defeated Pittsburgh in 1996. Only one other show in American broadcast history was watched by more people, the "M-A-S-H" finale in 1983, which drew 106 million viewers.

Sunday's game had almost all the ingredients Fox could have hoped for: a tight contest with an exciting finish involving a team that was attempting to make history as the NFL's first unbeaten team since 1972.

But the Giants ended New England's bid for perfection, 17-14. Throughout the game, the teams were never separated by more than a touchdown.

It was a terrific game. The Pats going for history was surely a big draw, as was the Giants exciting playoff run. It was perhaps the perfect matchup as the Patriots were THE elite team all year, and the Giants BECAME an elite team and the perfect underdog story through their hard work and determination. The Giants were also the ultimate "Road Warriors" winning every single game they played on the road including 3 playoff games, and the Super Bowl. What a sensational matchup!

It was an amazing game that ended great. Nothing better then seeing those smug, self-satisfied expressions wiped off the Patriots' faces.

Unfortunately, the late Reggie Roby, a three-time Pro Bowler, never played in a Super bowl. I firmly believe that his performance during such exaulted athletic exhibition would indeed make it a most "watched" Super Bowl.

Simply Amazing! I still cant really believe it how great the Giants played.
Im still damn happy!

If someone didnt see it he goddamn missed a part of history ;)

At the beginning of the evening I was not very excited about the game. Coming from the Midwest of the USA, I have always had a little hatred for the East Coast teams (jealousy?? Yeah probably so). Anyways, as the game began to progress, it did not take long for me to get totally engulfed in the game. By the end of it all, I must say it is one of the best Super Bowls I had ever seen. Not THE best, but not far from it.

I can see where it would be the most watched, that hope for the teams 'perfect' season is a big deal. I was a fantastic game, honestly I sat there waiting for the other shoe to drop at any moment. It never did :D

Wow I can see it was a lot on the line for both teams.

I seem to be the only person that was dissapointed with pretty much everything from the Super Bowl. The outcome depressed me, I thought the halftime show was sub-par at best, and the commercials were really lame. Maybe I am just feeling biased because I am a diehard Pats fan.

this game was great in my eyes...great defense, but my favorite super bowl was the rams-titans game when derrick mason came a yard short at the end of the game.

My favorite Super Bowl of all time as well. Being a Rams fan I remember that game quite well, and how close I think I came to having a heart attack. It is definitely the best ending to any Super Bowl. Mike Jones!!

A great idea! That would be like playing Tiger Woods in Action Golf, where you would blast golf balls downrange with an AR-15.
