Most important position in sports?

Steve Carlton won something like 50% of his team's wins one year, but they were a lousy team. I think it was when he was with the Cardinals. I don't think it was a Phillies team.

you can run a wildcat offense and still win games, without a QB per se. Try to win a hockey game with a lousy goalie.

The Philadelphia Flyers had a skating five that could compete with the Bruins, may have actually been better, but Tim Thomas was much better than the Flyers net duo.

QB is important, but not as vital. Proof? Two words: Trent Dilfer.

Trent Dilfer is probably one of only two exceptions (the other being Brad Johnson) due to the fact he had one of the 4 greatest single season defenses in history to make his job that much easier. And as for the wildcat you can no longer run that more than a few times a game and expect much success, much less a win. QB is the most important.
