Most Beautiful City

Best city to live includes lowest crime rates, city taxes, best commerce opportunities, and good schools not just how beautiful the landscape and buildings happen to be. The city is littered with beautiful parks and nicely kept yards but that's just a small part of the appeal.
I included crime rates in what i was saying, i know it does'nt just mean nice buildings and scenery etc, the education is a pretty low standard here but that is just as the government only record Hull as a city when it comes to GCSE exam results and dont include the surrounding areas (of which they are alot) and they do this with all the other citys in England such as London (Wycombe, kent etc) and Leeds (Rothwell etc), as far as city taxes go in Hull they are probably amongst the lowest in the UK especially due to the city not being on a BT landline and having there own KC landlines, this helps as it is a reductionist on Government taxing policies. Commerce oppurtunities are definatley at an all time high in this city with the kc stadium generating money through concerts, high profile matches, etc, and it is increasing it's size and getting a shopping mall and casino built next to it which is a definate boost in commerce for the city, there is also a new train/bus system being built a with another shopping outlet being built next to this station, commerce could'nt be higher in the city at the moment. Just thought i'd try to explain a little more on what i actually ment and i guess where the forgotton city in England despite being the 8th largest in the UK. I was'nt saying your citys a shite place to live or anything like that, lol! :glugglug:

Isn't that the landscape???

At most that would be the location and placement of the city.......

Wouldn't the city be the buildings (architecture...), squares, streets, shops, parks.........and location as a part of the total....?

Well, yes, the other parts of the city are quite spectacular and breath taking. But, its one thing to be looking down on a beautiful city, with nothing on the horizon, and quite another to see what Victoria has to offer.

Furthermore, anyone who mentioned Toronto, is either on crack, or really never, ever been there in person. Toronto, as of the last couple of years, as turned into a very messy, dirty city. The politicans can't seem to ever get anything done, the Police aren't given the tools or support to do their job properly, and so crime is on the rise. Don't get me wrong, Toronto, along with every city, has its positives and negatives, but to rank the "Big Smoke" up that high is absurd.

No order...................
San Antonio, Texas
Dallas(at night)
San Francisco
San Diego
any city in the Pacific Northwest when it isn't raining
just about any city in Switzerland
Paris(at night)
Vienna
Victoria, British Columbia

I have to admit, there are some posters with some great travel experience.

Along with Victoria, Ottawa is a very well kept city. I am a huge fan of the Art deco, and spanish style of architecture, so the South Florida/Miami area is a personal fav.

I think the most beautiful city I've ever been to was Monaco. I stayed near Nice a few years back and we visited Monaco for a day. It had a lovely atmosphere.

Well I have only been to:

Denver, Colorado
Phoenix, Arizona
Roswell, New mexico (so awesome, and by accident)
Orlando, Florida
New Orleans. Louisiana
Various cities in TX, my home state (Dallas, Houston, lived in Austin, Laredo, Corpus Christi, and Galveston)

I guess they are all bautiful citites to me, especially if its your first time.

Well having never been beyond the USA or Canada, I don't have a lot to choose from, but I have to say Victoria is an excellent choice. Only been there once, but I really enjoyed my stay. Vancouver wasn't bad either but not as nice as Victoria.

I'd also like to say Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, but I'm not sure if that's cheating since I have lived in both although I currently live in Pittsburgh. Anyway they're both great cities and possibly as beautiful as you can get in the US. Cities like New York and Chicago are great, but I would hardly call either one beautiful . Now as for how in the hell Los Angeles got nominated.... :D :D I guess I'll just say, as it is with women, to each his own :hatsoff:

Anyway, this is from my very limited travel experience, but of the cities I haven't been to, the ones I've heard people rave about more than any other would probably be San Antonio and San Diego. That's in the US of course. Apparently ALL of England is simply breathtaking ;) , but as a Hungarian I'll toss Budapest out there for Europe. Of course I've never been there but I hear it's got some great architecture... :hatsoff:

I have a hard time admitting Vegas simply because it's fake. I think that's like saying the Magic Kingdom is the most beautiful city. I dunno... either way its just a bunch of shiny casinos in the middle of a desert. Just not my thing.

I don't think I can narrow it down to just one city so i'll just go with a few by country.

USA - this is a tough one since i've been to so many; key west and san fransisco are great but Charleston, SC is just beautiful.

Italy - Venice by far but I never got to go to rome but i'd say Venice still looks better. I think Florence came in a very close second.

France - well, paris was just...so much to take in it was overwealming. nice and monaco (i know it's its own principality) were great too.

Germany - i'd have to go with Fussen (at least i think that was the name of the town where the Neushwanstein castle is)

if you put a gun to my head i'd guess i'd say........ARGH...-Paris, but i'd really want to say Nice...or Fussen

Nice to see this thread got plenty of responses.... I thought it might. ;)

As for myself, I saw plenty of Europe as a child, however, many of those memories have faded, although I do remember being quite taken with Rome.

My own travel experience as an adult have not been that extensive, mostly centred upon Western N.A. With that in mind, I'd say the two most beautiful cities for me were San Diego, Califiornia and Vancouver, British Columbia.

I'd very much like to travel to the Eastern US, especially New York. I don't know if rates very high in terms of "beauty," but I know I'd enjoy the eclectic nature of culture that exists there. I keep meaning to go back to England, but I would not want to stay less than a month (6-8 weeks would be ideal), and unfortuately that wouldn't be easy to co-ordinate it with my work schedule. Perhaps next year.....

Not really a city I think, but Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Absolutely incredible, and the beaches and such are fantastic.
A real paradise that I try to visit anytime I head down to Jamaica (Once every few years).

In North America, Fort Lauderdale Florida. (Even better that I'm moving there in the next few months.)

I wish I could nominate Toronto, but I live there so it doesn't count.

well, my travels have been on the uglier side,

1. Mogadishu - not bad looking from a distance, the pits of hell up close...
2. Kuwait City - lots for smoke from what I remember, of course it had just been liberated...
3. Washington DC - don't forget the bullet proof vest...
4. Detroit, see number 3...
5. Los Angeles - nice place to get skin cancer... don't go unless blonde and IQ is under 80...

oops, you said most "BEAUTIFUL", sorry, my bad...

Actually the best city I have been to, so far is...

DENVER, love the rocky mountains in the winter...
