Mortal Kombat vs the DC Universe

I'm actually looking forward to this game. I've liked every MK game except for part 4 in the arcade, so I'm willing to bet this one will be good too. I would have probably picked a different franchise other than DC though. I think it would have been awesome if they did a horror theme with New Line Studios or something. I've wanted to see a fighting game with horror characters in it for years. How cool would it be to have the MK characters against Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Pinhead, Pumpkinhead etc. Plus, they would have been obligated to add as much gore as possible. Anyway, I still think the idea of a DC crossover is going to be interesting.

I went to RedHood's link http://www.the-nextlevel.com/board/showthread.php?p=1064137869#post1064137869 and somebody said that some of the other characters would be Kabal, Jax, Raiden, Kitana, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Hawkman, Powergirl and that Shazam would not be a character. Some characters that I wish they would use (but probably won't) would be the Joker, Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Clayface, Man-Bat, Bane, Doomsday, Lobo, Goro, Frost, Quan Chi, Ermac, Blind Kenshi, Baraka, and Cyrax.

As far as the Catwoman they used, I'm willing to bet the characters will have unlockable costumes from different eras, and that one of Superman's will be Cyborg Superman.

I'd like to see the costume that Superman wore in the "Godfall" storyline. Also how cool would it be if the game had downloadable characters.

I just watched the E3 coverage of MK vs DC and all I can say is OMG! They have added air combat when your falling into the next stage like in Dead or Alive. They've added completely new fight mechanics to the game. They've added costume battle damage. All of the MK characters and DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes will have brutality moves. I witnessed Superman in an air battle with Sub-Zero in which Superman threw Sub-Zero to the ground and used a heat vision combo. Ed Boon revealed that one of the characters to be shown at ComicCon next week will be Captain Marvel (Shazam). He also categorized this game as Mortal Kombat 8, so that could mean the next one will be MK 9 rather than a proper 8 like some people thought. The E3 coverage has just fueled my excitement for Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

The new stuff he mentioned looks awesome. The combo system is more free, and while you can sidestep and move in 3D motion, the gameplay resembles the classic 2D Mortal Kombat games. Boon also mentioned that Superman is one of the more devastating characters in the game, but if you look at Flash he has some wicked moves too. Test your might is now a minigame when you transition throughout parts of a stage, like in Metropolis. And the freefall combat system has a super bar that you can fill up to use a special attack (Flash's being a tornado spin).

Whoa, thanks for the video.:thumbsup: That actually wasn't the interview that I saw, the one I saw had him talking to Kevin Periera live while two people were playing the demo. They didn't show Superman's brutality during the interview I saw, they only mentioned it.

Yeah it's real and as far as I know it's only coming out for PS3 and Xbox 360. It should be out this fall.

if it doesnt come out on wii, im going to be fucking pissed. in mk armageddon, that control system was fucking genius, theres no reason it shouldnt come out on wii. i mean, not that im interested in the game, but its the principle of the matter.

There are rumors at the worldscollide.com forums that John Tobias could be returning to the franchise he helped create. Something about Noob.com being updated with Tobias?. Something might be revealed at ComicCon on Friday. It could mean that Tobias is indeed returning or it could mean that Noob Saibot is going to a character in the game. Of course this could all mean nothing as well.

this is probably a dumb question but within the game you can still put DC characters against DC characters if you wanted too right? the same with MK charcters? it doesnt have to be the opposite??

I saw a vid from E3 where two guys both picked Scorpion, so yes you can fight against the respective companies' characters.

So who do you guys think the other 6 characters will be? My guess is Kitana, Powergirl, Green Lantern, Raiden, Shao Khan, and Darkseid...but I'm also thinking Mr. Freeze might be in there somewhere because of Sub-Zero.
