I was reading that this possibly isn't a new movie at all but rather a teaser for the new Mortal Kombat video game. People are saying that it will be revealed at E3.
But then why would Baraka be a human?

I thought it was rather cheesy. I hope this isn't a movie, it looks fucking terrible. The only thing mortal kombat-like in this teaser is Jax is black, and the names are all the same.
Besides that, I have a feeling it would turn out just like the last Street Fighter movie, completely fucking horrible and would make me leave the theatre within 10 minutes of the movie.
There are rumors that the new MK game is a complete reboot of the franchise.
Anyway this was posted on Jeri Ryan's twitter:
"Okay, so... Mortal Kombat. It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film. [...] I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was. And I'm not sure how you can contact WB to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful...! ;-)"
I seriously hope it turns into a movie! It looks great! I bet if this video gets out and Ed Boon and [first name?] Tobias get the feedback, as well as WB, there will be real serious consideration. From the looks of the preview it holds HUGE potential. I'm stoked!
The Mortal Kombat 9 trailer is here. It looks like they're following Street Fighter IV's trend by making it 2D with 3D elements. It also looks like it maybe is sort of reboot and it looks great.

he short film was shot in early April completely on spec. It was shot over two days on two RED cameras for or $7,500 with most of the crew donating their time. Post production took two months, and no one at the studio knew anything about the spec short film, even though screenwriter Oren Uziel (who is attached to the next Mortal Kombat movie according to imdb) wrote the script. Tancharoen made the film as a pitch for the job. The fight choreography was done by Larnell Stovall, who worked on the fight sequenced in Undisputed III, and did stunts for The Other Guys and Green Lantern.
the live action trailer is a pitch to WB. to me it looks like Dark Knight meets MK. the way they went realistic with the characters. but either way I hope it gets greenlit, WB can throw way more funding than the 1st 2 had. plus the trailer for the new game looks fantastic. i wonder if the game is a reboot as well (I kinda hope it is).
I meant WB as in Warner Bros. the movie studio. I don't think they could put this on cable, unless it was HBO or something. Sorry bout the confusion.
MK 9 Footage, featuring Fatalities!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I know it's not the greatest because a camcorder was used but it's from an E3 behind close doors presentation and it's still awesome!
