Well Monique fans and admirers, the geniuses at Wikipedia who fancy themselves vigilante editors of a sort, have deleted Monique's Wikipedia page. Aside from some of the complete blather comments given on the
deletion discussion page (such as that the page was filled with "derogatory comments" (huh?), the main reason appears to be that she did not meet Wikipedia's porn "notability criteria"... being unfamiliar with these, I looked them up:
* Has won or been a serious nominee for a well-known award, such as those listed in Category:Adult movie awards or Category:Film awards or from a major pornographic magazine, such as Penthouse, Playboy, or Playgirl, as well as their counterparts in other pornography genres.
* Has made unique contributions to a specific pornographic genre, such as beginning a trend in pornography, or starring in an iconic, groundbreaking or blockbuster feature.
* Has been featured multiple times in notable mainstream media.
Apparently, having an award from Penthouse makes you notable. I also enjoyed the analysis that the fact that the Wiki page shows up first on a Google search means she is not widely written about on the net. My understanding of search position is the number of pages that link to a page that determines its popularity, not how many pages on a subject there are. So that would mean her Wiki page was very popular but apparently not "notable".
So until she gets at least "serious" nomination for an award of some kind, looks like the page will stay down. If you are as displeased as I am (this is the second time the Barney Fief's that patrol these pages have pulled her page down) you may want to get in touch with some of them via email, their names are linked in the discussion page, and register your displeasure. You may especially want to query the doofus who made the "derogatory comments" statement to understand his definition of derogatory. Better yet, if you know of any award she has been nominated for or can think of some other "notability" criterion, pass it along or post it here so we can get her page back up.
Thanks,
CJ
