You would be surprised at how many people are desperate for quick money or are just that greedy. Greed is a powerful thing. There is also a lot of stiff competition for anything meaningful in it. Not everybody has the looks be among the best. People that are just above average or pretty don't usually cash in big unless they go hardcore or shamelessly exploit some niche. It's a stereotype but a lot of them really do fit the naive women that just got off the bus and don’t think image others have of them. It's sad but it's also reality.
Yep it's desperation for money in most cases. There's a million and one pretty girls out there that can all look awesome for a swimsuit shoot or what not. So they don't pay jack for that. What happens to lots of girls that end up in porn is they try modeling, don't make jack shit, then start doing topless stuff. Soon they find themselves doing hardcore shoots. Before you know it they're taking cumshots in the eyes because the money sounds really good.
Lets not forget that some women in porn are there because they want to be in porn. I have no illusions that porn is all glam and glitter, but for some it is a rewarding and self fulfilling career in its own right. Imagine the feeling of delivering joy and beauty to the world or the ego trip of being fantasized about by millions. Perhaps the thrill of exhibitionism is just too much to turn down. There are plenty of good reasons to do porn. Exactly and to do the modeling that Bundchen or Adriana Lima do you must also have a body that's built for that kind of modeling i.e. being tall. A girl who is 5'3" isn't going to be a runway model.

Like you whenever I come across a gorgeous girl doing nude modeling or porn I'd think to myself, "I bet she won't have any problem finding work in the modeling business." or "I don't know why she would let herself get fucked in front of camera. Her parents must be mortified that their beautiful daughter is swallowing cum in front of millions." I always equate looks with education or background, so an above average looking girl should come from well-to-do families and probably have guys lining up to date her. Not sure why a girl like that would take her clothes off and letting a stranger (in some cases ugly strangers) just sticking his dick inside her. To me that makes little sense.
Yeah! That´s exactly what I also think. And every guy can go to a hot girl and tell her whatever he could lie together just to get her in a bikini, then drunk and then go anal. It might have a bit to do with your taste (not that you have bad taste, but a girl has to be liked by the general public and your taste might differ a bit) , the fact that you don't notice small, but vital flaws, etc.
Besides, the looks - education/wealth equation isn't really correct. It's true that girls that are wealthy can spend more money on cosmetics and at a beauty salon, but even money can't change their genes (which is what makes the girls beautiful or ugly or... whatever you think when you see a girl).
So poorer girls can be pretty/beautiful as well.
I don't know for sure, but I believe a lot of adult entertainers from central europe do it to pay for their college education (If you read some biographies you'll see that's a very common theme. I'm not sure because I haven't read every single biography of every single adult entertainer...), so I doubt they're very rich.
Now that may be true, but there are plenty that got in the business because they wanted to be there. Sasha Grey is a wonderful example. Here's a girl with looks that kill and a face that is to die for, and yet she left her family and came to CA to make porn. She does intense, hardcore, and downright nasty stuff, and yet she has always discussed it with the passion of an artist. Whether I like their style or not, I tip my hat to the women who have a passion for there career.
I see no shame in choosing porn over traditional modeling. Perhaps in time, some girls may be able to choose both.
