MN Twins Will Win the World Series This Year (2010).

I believe its been 17 years.

Did you hear they don't spend all of the revenue sharing on their squad (like many other teams)? It was on Mike and Mike probably a couple months ago now, but I thought it was interesting. So many teams just fielding teams to field teams. Damn owners are so damn greedy. Twins have upped their payroll this year to over 100 million, the most in their history because of the new stadium. I'm real excited about their prospects this year despite losing Nathan. Five time AL Central champions in the last nine years. :hatsoff:

I have to say I watched him blow a lot of saves last year, despite him leading the league in saves. He actually is overrated. Be that as it may, I wonder who will fill that role now.

By the stats he's second only behind Rivera as a closer in the past few years. Still, an elite closer is easier to replace than a top of the line starter.

We're gonna have a healthy Kevin Slowey. He was maybe our best pitcher last year until the injury. If Liriano can produce for a change that would nice as well, but I won't hold my breath.

Sadly, the World Series this year will feature the Cardinals (fuck 'em) and the Evil Empire I'll be surprised if the Cubbies win 60 games. :sad face:

And you're the one talking about ripping fucking lungs out??? Bash my Redbirds again and you risk serous physical consequences, Mr. Cub Fan!!! (Remember....1908 was 102 years ago! Amazing!).

With Joe Nathan most likely out for the season, what hapenn's to the closer's role?I'm hearing that Rauch or Guerrier most likely will fill the role or maybe even Liriano

Or they pick up someone on the market. If only we could get a healthy Liriano to play closer. The only thing Nathan throws is heat, so apparently (I hear) he was trying to throw breaking stuff hence why he busted up his arm. The talk now is that Rausch will pick up for closer.

While he primarily relies on his fastball, Nathan's bread and butter is his slider. He threw it almost 31% of the time last year, which is pretty high for a reliever. He's been throwing breaking stuff regularly for his entire career. I'd be willing to wager his injury has to do a lot more with the surgery on the same elbow he had this past off-season than anything he's really done this Spring.

The New York Mets will win the World Series!

This year we will not implode! This year we will have a healthy team! This year we will not rely on our newest major acquisition (who just so happens to be Jason Bay) and we will play as a team! This year Oliver Perez will not have a meltdown in the first three innings! This year we will win the World Series!

However if none of the above pans out, then this year we will fire Omar Minaya!

Good luck with that. I think even Mike and Mike only have them like third in their division. :)

I'm a White Sox fan and loved Joe Nathan, he's a heck of a closer. However, I don't see how the Twins will be a factor this year with Nathan out and especially now that they don't play at that damn Metrodome.

Conspiracy...

1) The dimensions at the new stadium are similar to the dome

2) it's even more reason to win considering they now have a new park, and because that thing will sell out all season now.

3) They have picked up a number of solid role players and have a relatively healthy staff (aside from Nathan).

Too many reasons for them to win. And the AL Central has and will continue to be a shit division, and exactly what other team(s) are there to defeat us? none.

Too bad only 2,500 people were showing up to games before they left.

I blame that more on the fact the managment of that team had pretty much fucked the entire fanbase over and over for years. People love the Expos, but why spend money on getting a ticket to the game when the owners have been saying they want to move the team for years and trade away the best players?
